This week I've been giving 6 Music a try again, as Christian O'Connell and Chris Evans are both off this week. However, how Shaun Keaveny got a breakfast DJ slot is beyond me, his monotone mumbling is very difficult to understand!

Moyles seems to have vanished off the face of the planet!

Let's face it he is rich but he cannot continue in the lifestyle he is accustomed from 38yo until 80+ just spending his savings and selling properties.

Who is Chris Moyles?

I wish Radio 2 would sort out their stand-ins -they have some real rubbish and Michael Ball is the worst.

If you want music that is unlikely to be played by mainstream radio stations there's radio 6.
I think the 25-40 sector want songs from 1990-2010 played every now and again, you get the odd one on things like the Radio 1 10 minute takeover and Friday drivetime on Radio 2, but they're interspersed with shouty stuff on R1 and cheesey wedding disco on R2.

I did try Radio 6 as my main radio station at home for a few months (mainly as my radio was stuck on it and I lost the remote) and they did play some good music but most of the music they played came across as pretentious dirge to me and the guy in the mornings is awful.
If you live in London or Manchester then XFM is worth a listen- Jon Holmes is great in the mornings on the London version (although I preferred Danny Wallace, but only slightly). The station's also gained listeners in the last quarter so must be doing something right.

Edit- gained listeners to 500k, not gained 500k listeners...

Did you know he's from Ireland? He never mentions it.

I don't mind Kielty - at least he doesn't care but ball is a real patroniser, my darling.

Ball is fine, but Kielty is dreadful - no personality, no warmth, unfunny. How he got into entertainment I'll never know.

I listen to Chris Evans, and that is my DJ of choice after Chris Moyles' departure. However, without Chris Evans the Radio 2 breakfast show is really just for old people. I'm over 40, but do not feel the need to die just yet.

I find him really funny, he has quite a dry sense of humour. ^ music does play some great music, bit of crap now and then too. My days seems to be 6 music till 10am then Kiss for the "kisstory" old school then back to 6 music for mark and marconni(spelling?)

Which reminds me Scott Mills and Chris Stark seem to have stolen Mark and Lards "whoooooooo?"

Quite frankly I don't get why a commercial station doesn't pick-up Moyles and the BBC get someone inspired by John Peel to do their morning show.

The point of the BBC shouldn't be to be the most popular.
A mix of music and discussion, and the music from a decent period of time, as in a wide spread. The was some great stuff in the 80's and 90's, where as some of the stuff in the charts is just dross.
This.

I don't want to listen to Bieber and One Direction, I want music I know which Moyles used to play interspersed with some great banter that I could relate to. I'd say there's many others who agree, the vast majority of the morning drive time audience is in the 25-40 demographic and the fact that Moyleses(?) figures were constantly increasing seems to back this up.

Plus I'd argue the youth demographic the BBC are (or aren't) chasing do not listen to radio. Think I've posted this before on here but I did a rough survey at work on who listened to Radio 1 and the majority looked at me like they didn't even know what radio is. A lot of kids these days don't even seem to listen to MP3s they've downloaded, they just stream it.

Well it looks like Radio 4 is now pulling more listeners than Radio 1. I think it confirms my belief that the generation who listened to and really believed and were influenced by music has now passed and modern youth are just sound boards for music to echo round their ears.

Well Chris Evans was worth a listen this morning,he's usually too loud for me.

His Friday guests were in no particular order,Rick Stein,Jack Dee,Clarkson and Hammond

and an excellent singer called Eliza Doolittle who did 4[or more]live songs and she has

a beautiful voice....ears

Yes I thought that. A good listen. Slightly spoilt by the awful "Candy Man" before Clarkson and Hammond.

So Grimshaw is slightly up last quarter, but still over 1m down on Chris Moyles.

I'm still surprised Chris Moyles hasn't appeared on Absolute or some other radio station.

What's Moyles up to these days? Too young to retire and long term personal friendship he destroyed

Better not turn up there and ruin it.

I believe he doesn't get on with Christian O Connell but i can't listen to him either....nono

My new regime is ....get in car at 6.30am,listen to Theakston and Emma Bunton on Heart

till 9am when they finish,7am on in the truck then 1/2 hour of Evans is bearable then 1/2 hour

of Ken Bruce then to Absolute for the rest of the day.

I still say Andy Bush is good fun at 1pm to 5pm on Absolute, would like him to get the breakfast

slot and oust O Connell who is a twunt...evil

By the shape of him on Jamie Oliver's show tonight he's been living in the gym!
