No idea what the head of R1 was thinking when they took on they mindless idiot Grimshaw ....
He was thinking "Would everyone over the age of 25 please f*** off somewhere else?" I think he even said that was his intention, regardless of the drop in listeners.R2 is still aimed at mid-40s+.
The solution?
Radio 1.5, line-up as follows:
Early breakfast: Nemone
Breakfast: Chris Moyles
Morning: Sara Cox
Afternoon: Mark & Lard (possibly), or Greg James
Evening: Scott Mills

He jogs about 35 miles a week apparently and now struggles to eat enough!
I need to follow his example, he is the same age as me and looking a whole lot trimmer than I do these days!! If he can do it I certainly should!
good luck to you, but really, who gives a st. i liked it back in the day when the job of the dj was to play music. i've never understood why or how the music has become second place to the so called entertainers, normally two fools who aren't in the slightest humours and an overly opinionated fmale..I need to follow his example, he is the same age as me and looking a whole lot trimmer than I do these days!! no capitals because i'm eating peanut butter on toast..
Well, obviously I do!
I want to give it a go. I used to laugh a lot when listening to his breakfast show, I have never found an equal to that so yep I give a st but really not worried if you don't.
Enjoy your peanut butter on toast. I hate peanut butter but I'm sure that won't worry you, each to their own

I'm in my "mid forties" and for me, Radio1 has long since gone down the pan. But that is exactly what they wanted. As other have said, though, Auntie Beeb didn't really provide me with a decent alternative.
Radio2 certainly isn't it, and it's certainly NOT aimed at anyone I know who's in their forties. FFS, Ken Bruce asking 'Popmaster' questions about Gerry and the Pacemakers? 'Sounds of the Sixties'? Every time I dip into Radio2 when I lose the station I'm listening to, I think I've found BBC Radio Care Home. Some of the dirge on their playlist has been on there since about 1975, whereas I want to be listening to 'The 1975s'. And don't even get me started on the 'easy listening' nature of Radio2. 6Music is OK, but almost too diverse and edgy, and I never got to grips with the schedule on there.
I've gone over to Kerrang! Radio. Johnny Doom and Kate Lawler are great, as is Loz Guest. They do talk quite a bit, but even their inane drivel is entertaining, as they don't attempt to present it as "comedy" and the music is everything I want it to be. It's just a shame that they ditched their nationwide DAB broadcast. I still get it at home, and on most short journeys, but whenever I head west, I end up with an ipod connected to the car, or channelhopping between stations like you wouldn't believe.
Both me, and the wife, liked Chris Moyles back in his Radio1 days, so I'll point his new show out to her, and I might give him a try for a while, but I strongly suspect I'll be back in Ms Lawler's warm, loving embrace on Kerrang! before too long. I suspect Mr Moyles has had his day, at least as far as I'm concerned.
Been listening to Radio X this morning. They play some decent music. They've spent some money on new presenters. As well as signing Moylesie, they also have Vernon Kay and Johnnie Vaughan. I will definitely have to invest in a DAB radio for my car. I think I've got a new favourite radio station.
