Nearly the first time I've listened to the radio on the way to work in 3 years!

So happy to have something to listen to again, playing some actual music I've heard and know too! Yes!

Glad I tested my 3G signal on the way to work last week, clear all the way!

Welcome back Moyles

Lots of very unhappy xfm listeners, hating the change. Shame for them and can understand how they may be feeling but as I replied to one, that's how it has felt for many of us for the past 3 years!!
Im an ex-xfm Manchester fan, listened to moyles this morning frown didn't like it, I know it was his first show but xfm Manchester is no more radio x is now a national station instead of a local station.

Tim and Jim were much better, some of the competitions they did where awesome, a particular highlight for me was meat of the week on a Friday, rest your meat once you pull it out and fat means flavour, also reporting on the mancunian hole, the cubicle,

Also seems to be a massive increase in adverts in the last month or so.

ETA - I just remembered, I WOKE UP TO A GIRLS ALLOWED SONG WTF...

Out of interest, a lot of us had nowhere to go when Moyles' show ended on Radio 1 and it was widely predicted that those in the 25-40ish bracket were left out in the cold. Did many of you find a new home?

I, as predicted, haven't listened to the Radio full-stop on my commute and have moved over to podcasts for the journey. Unfortunately I don't have DAB in the car and reception is shonky at best on my new commute through a valley, so Radio X is out of the question.

Listened this morning.

Didn't do anywhere near as much channel hopping on the radio as I tend to do on my usual commute, but it was pretty good and coverage does just about extend to Maidenhead in the West!

I never did. I channel hopped, radio 2, heart, kiss, local Bristol, even radio1 again in desperation (stuck to it when Mills was on breakfast cover) finally Sam FM, which was OK music wise. That was in the car, in the house it was the Absolute stations, heart (or on occasion Triple J- Australian station)

For the first time in years I had the radio one instead of BBC Breakfast. My car doesn't have DAB etc but I have the app on my phone but my new shifts mean I will be at home mist mornings, so not a real issue.

I'm just pleased I had a decent enough signal on mobile on the 31 mile commute to listen via the tunein app. wink

I just installed the Radio X app which wants to send me push notifications. It has no option other than 'OK' but says they can be turned off in the Settings. Erm.....nowhere in Settings to turn off so uninstalling the app. I don't WANT push notifications for competitions or artist info etc; why do they insist on bundling this crap? It's counterproductive and the fastest way to get me to uninstall an app...

It was a dig at a Guardian article that pounced on a line in a press release that Radio X was aimed at men. With a headline like "sexist pig Moyles says women not welcome" or some other garbage.

Chris was saying that girls ARE aloud wink

I pretty much stopped listening to broadcast radio and moved to podcasts and Spotify. If I'm in the car and can't get those, I just flick around the stations.

We do need DAB / internet radio coverage in cars to improve though.

I tested a PAYG Three sim in a spare phone today connected to the 'aux-in' of my 2000ish era car using tunein radio. Didn't drop out on me once, whereas my company O2 supplied mobiles 3/4G would go to GPRS as soon as I left the city.

It streamed high quality at around 1mb a minute so equivalent to 128kb/sec, not bad at all.

Really pleased to have Chris back.

Assuming you are both on iphones.

Settings > Notifications > Scroll down to the Radio X app and turn them off there.

Enjoyed the drive to work, and the drive home - Johnny Vaughan's "what job would you do in a totalitarian regime/police state" was pretty funny!

Only just spotted that hes back on air
Will tune in tomorrow and see if any of the old magic is there. As the alternatives are still generally very poor.

If his show starts doing big audience numbers it will be interesting to see what stick the BBC will get over it.
