If the posters on this thread are representative of the UK population then everyone here should buy shares in apple/dab Walkman etc as sales are going to rocket likewise album sales will go up as you can only listen to the same music over and over a certain number of times before you'd like to hear something different.
I doubt more than 1% of the posters here are the target demographic for Radio 1 - the "youth" audience.Chris Moyles may have been popular but according to the BBC he wasn't popular with the "right" people, so it's hardly surprising that those who liked his show are unlikely to like his replacement.
Guess it's like Cadillac in the states, only appealing to Florida Pensioners with the eldorado and seville models. But then they bought out the Escalade, for the rappers, who now like them too which encourages the youngn folk. But they still have to cater for the main audience hence the CTS

So they'll lose out on 90% of their audience just to get the target demographic listening!?
Yeah but one of the points of the BBC being uniquely funded is that they don't focus on ratings and do focus on offering content for everyone, including the nine children who listen to the radio while they commute to school.ReaperCushions said:

Bingo Some twitterers are trying to scupper dimshaw's big launch tomorrow, expecting his hashtag that is currently being spammed all over radio 1 to be trending.
The twitterers are aiming to get #TeamMoyles trending higher than dimshaw's. It's all just for a bit of fun! Also, follow @Team_Moyles while you're at it!

Oh dear - I listened this morning getting ready for work and in the car like normal and it just wasn't the same (I guess it would be different!) but not a patch on the Moyles show........I'll give him the rest of this weeek then if no better look for something else.....the only good thing was that there was so much more music, I didn't have to listen to him......
I didn't even think about turning Grimshaw on, I heard him on the radio over the weekend in a vain attempt to plug them show, that and some of the promotional jingles were just cring worthy... TeamGrimshaw? Really...
Chirs Evans is on holiday this week, so Radio 2 has Zoe Ball on, which was quite good.

Ah poo, didnt realise that zoe was on. I managed 2 songs on grimshaw, he played westwoods klaxon a few times through each which made me cringe... and then he said gwarning so i turned to radio 2. They were playing raindrops keep falling on my head, so i screamed for about 10 seconds and plugged my ipod in
So far I'm enjoying the entertainment being provided by the cbeebies presenters more than Grimmy!
Still at least he sounds happy. He is currently doing a quiz which is questioning who's baby would win in a fight .
Though the question re: when it's safe to cross the road (when green man is flashing or when Lyndsay Lohan is driving) was quite funny.
My mornings will never be the same again :heavy sigh:

Mr. Grimshaw was not very good. Not terrible, just struggling. There is a reason why most breakfast shows have sidekicks, he is going to run out of material (if you can call it that) very quickly with 3.5 hours each morning.
Someone on here said he'd be the 'sacrificial' person and I think that may be true, so give him a little while and then Greg James will take over.

Indeed, can't see "grimmy" lasting long.Someone on here said he'd be the 'sacrificial' person and I think that may be true, so give him a little while and then Greg James will take over.

I didn't listen to it, I listened to best of the proms this morning on my way in, and Kiss FM in the office. He doesn't have a side kick? It's just his irritating voice for 3.5 hours? Good God. I want Greg James to do it, he seems ok.Someone on here said he'd be the 'sacrificial' person and I think that may be true, so give him a little while and then Greg James will take over.
The management at Radio 1 have no clue, this was the biggest mistake ever, they forced Moyles out and put in this bloody idiot to attract younger listeners.
So what did we have to listen to today? Justin Bieber and One Direction, only 14 year old girls are interested in that rubbish, all Grimshaw does is name drop his hanger-on-mates and bum himself up.
Moyles did not need replaced, maybe force the fat lad to play a few more songs but pushing him out for this Clown is a joke.

Hmm. Listened for a bit as I don't like to moan about something I've not tried. He was a bit nervous as you'd expect so it's probably worth listening again in a few weeks when he's settled into a routine.
It does seem that, as is typical with the media, the BBC appear to have confused "young people" with "simpletons".
Might have to get DAB in the car though. I don't tend to like solo presenters but Shaun Keaveney is pretty good
