The thread's alive!

I watched Apocalypse Now last night - I never realised Laurence Fishburne was the young guy in the boat until now!

OK, changing the period .... before he became famous as Steed in the Avengers, Patrick McNee played a naval officer (a goodie, that is ....) in the Battle of the River Plate film. ....

Ali Bastian of former hollyoaks fame was in 'Strippers vs Werewolves' hehe
Was on the other night, thought I'd watch it for some sly norkage but was left with the laughable plot/affects and faint disappointment, bugger. getmecoat

It was actually far more likely to be a demotion. There are no recorded instances of an enlisted soldier being promoted to the rank of Colonel in such a short timeframe in the German Heer during the war period. Whereas loss of rank for an officer did occur.

In addition, the Dirty Dozen was set in 1944 and Allo Allo was set in a prolonged period from circa 1940 to 1944 with the Colonel appearing in a number of episodes.

Fantastic.

It could have been worse. He could have been sent to the Eastern Front.

He was also the father of one of Hitlers clones in The Boys from Brazil which also included a small role for Steve Guttenburg.

And got to top up his tan - Presumably he used the proceeds of the sale of the Madonna with the big boobies to fund his escape.

Not only did he survive it, he got younger during it. Not a particularly stressful time in occupied France.

Indeed and you'd imagine that being chosen to raise one of the Hitler clones suggests his demotion was only temporary. Unfortunately all the fathers had to be brutally murdered when each Hitler clone was a teenager thus fully emulating the original Hitlers childhood so it wasn't quite the promotion it first seemed.

I knew he was in it, because he looks and sounds like himself, though it's odd that he has such a minor role after doing Star Wars.

I only cracked Laurence Fishburne because we noticed "Larry Fishburne" in the titles and went back to look at both the black characters (PC, I know...) and work out which one he is - his head's changed shape entirely!

He was a carpenter spotted and then cast by Lucas, then he got the Han Solo gig...the rest is history.
