Love this
Totally faked
So just like Top Gear then? Producers just following a tried and tested formula.

Fortunately I have a life so can switch the TV off and do something productive instead.
Well jolly good for you.

Something productive like...

post on a thread about a TV program you didn't watch.

The caliper removal technique made me wince, but other than that, it wasn't too bad. Certainly better than last time round.

I agree that there seemed fewer "fake situations" than in the last series - maybe they've listened to criticisms. Still a bag of crap as a serious documentary, but a good laugh for anybody interested in cars.

The opening shots had me laughing - these 2 classic car enthusiasts, with all their years of experience, were driving a P6 with illegal number plates. And is it just me, but does the voiceover seem like it's been done by the local 6th form college as a project?

The paintwork was oh so flat.... could have been better with a Halfords aerosol. And the constant reference to Porsche being famous for V8 engines! What research did they do, if any?

(Oh, and Paul O'Neill - I'm sure he's a nice guy and all that, but what are his REAL credentials? they said he had a wealth of experience in the classic car market, but it's news to me. He's still young, and spent many years in racing, which doesn't leave much time for dealing in cars. Load of BS I reckon - the producers thought he might attract viewers.)

The voiceover is poor, its also very dumbed down it seems to act as an audio track for people who can't watch a sort of "audio signing" for blind people or stupid ones.
However dumbed down voice overs are everywhere. It looks like this series has sat on the shelf for a while.

Someone on the PH Classic Car forum noticed that when they were at the airfield, the bonnet badge was missing, but when the "joke" radiator hose split and boiling-over took place, the badge was miraculously back on.

All for the cameras? On Classic Car Rescue?? Never!!!

If I recall correctly, they didn't drive it on public roads either, they were on that proving ground pseudo-road that you sometimes see on autocar videos, and the same place that Chris Harris did the quattro/rs200 vid a while back. Certainly looked like the same place

They certainly pushed the boat out - new plugs AND a filter. Must be the reason for that 343bhp dyno readout hehe

I've got this recorded, but I'm not sure after all of the comments whether I want to watch it now?

Maybe be better to get an 50 minutes of my life back.

Watch the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes, watch any 2 episodes of Mr Bean in between.

I did notice on that readout that it was the flywheel quote? Is this normal?

At the wheels it showed 286 which was more in the region I would have expected

What year was it? Some had 350 bhp ish I'm sure, probably had a replacement later engine if too early. I also wonder if the coolant pipe incident (if real) was the reason it was in the yard in the first place, and it will be forever popping and splitting coolant hoses for the lucky winner!

From next week, Monday nights will offer 5th Gear, Wheeler Dealers, Car SOS, Extreme Car Hoarders and Restoration Garage. And this load of toss.

5 out of 6 hours car related tele isn't too bad I guess.

I hate to admit it but given what we saw in the first series and bearing in mind it's on Channel 5, it wasn't that bad (or at least it wasn't as bad as it could have been).

Perhaps normal service will be resumed next week?!
