I would like to have seen the fitting of the chrome-finishing strip on the front and rear windows. You don’t get these second-hand, as they are too fragile and rotten to ever survive. They cost about 100 quid alone and take a day to fit, and if you don’t know how to do it you will bugger them up. Theirs were perfect.

Restored MG BGT GT owner (and E-Type)
I'm glad you've mentioned this, because it's been bugging me for days. When they were doing the windscreen my memory was nagging away saying 'there's something not quite right here.....' and the reason is that when I was at autoglass I had a tecnician that said he could do the chrome inserts on MGB's with his eyes shut. The result of his efforts and many, MANY hours, was alot of cold bond, bent bits of chrome, and an inevitable customer complaint. If you closed your eyes, it looked ok. They are an absolute ahole to put back properly.

You can put me down for one of those "£1000 brand new monocoque chassis".

Where the heck can you get a brand new MGB shell for that much?

Only in our dreams I suspect (and then only if we we'd been taking LSD before falling asleep).

Update on the MBG being 2 or even 3 different cars...
I was wondering what happened to the sills. smile

The Heritage shells are a little more than £1000.

I was amazed by the logic of leaving a crap non-period sunroof on the E-Type, but (supposedly) removing the period Webasto from the MGB, but the replacement shell explains it.

Yes, all becomes clear, but instead of just not saying they were using a different shell they actually showed one of the mechanics supposedly spot welding in a steel panel!

Apparently over a million viewers on Monday, looks like C5 are onto a winner, (as far as the advertisers are concerned anyway), also talk of a recommission... yikes

So only 3 more episodes to practice our shouting at the telly skills ready for series 2...

Our only hope is given the apparent bullst about his career with seemingly a fake RR garage we could assume the stated qualifications are fake also. Our only hope is he gets arrested for gaining pecuniary advantage by deception.

It is utterly shocking guff, BUT, given the options chucked out by the other tv channels, eastenders, emmerdale, and corrie.......I'm quite happy to watch some mockney and his oafish yank ham it up over some tin wormed wreck and badly bodge it together.

You could always switch it off wink

What I don't understand is that so many people have written that the first programme was rubbish yet they've still watched the second and third.

Car crash tv innit.

We all like cars.

All you can do is look on in awe and mock the mockney.

It's utterly dreadful, and yet oddly compelling.

It's an entertainment prog for people that know nothing about cars, IMO.

Wheeler Dealers and especially A Car is Born are technically far superior, and actually teach you something - CCR is just entirely lowest common denominator TV.

Slightly off topic, but linked in a way...

I've not seen this programme, but there's a similar one in the U.S. - the name of which escapes me - in which a team of "experts" is pitted against a team of amateurs to restore an American classic.
For example, they'll unveil 2 60s Mustangs and he first team to remove the engine gets a choice of the 2 engines offered - a 400bhp or 500bhp V8, then they'll have to build the car in a couple of days; paint, interior, everything. It's actually quite a good programme, but I think the amatuers have beaten the "experts" more often!

My eldest brother, having worked in and run many very large bodyshops across the U.S. started laughing when he saw one of the "experts" was a little Italian American he used to work with in L.A.
He told me, "He'll swear a lot and stick some stripes on the car - badly. It's all he can do! WTF he's doing there, I do not know!"

Swearing, badly painted stripedon, that's all the little Italian American did, too!

Another thought...

I have just sold a Vauxhall Zafira tonight at auction in Southampton. The valuer said he thought I should get something like 2200 puonds to 2500 for it. On the second attempt at sale at a well attended meeting it sold for 1500. Valuers over estimate so that you will place your car with them, they just can't help themselves. Or rather they like to help themselves; to the commission! mad

Don't forget, record the show and fast forward the bits we can't stand, then you only waste half an hour of your life and you can still come to this thread and have a good laugh wobble

p.s. My Microsoft wireless keyboard has swopped some funtions and cannot now make a pound sign - it does # instead. Thye # key does \, & " has switched with @. Anyone know how to fix it?
Go into the control panel and language and regional settings and set to uk.
