Films that should have had sequels

a follow up of some description was planned - or, have I mixed that up with a book?
Youre right on both accounts. The film was from a series of books, so naturally they planned on making more films. But i dont think the first one was very profitable. Shame really, as it was such a good film!

Withnail and I - This time it's Benidorm! In a Rover! Eres el campesino?
I disagree, I like the way it ends and it feels like a proper ending that needs no sequels.Besides, it's granero.
"¡Basta de decir eso, Withnail! ¡Claro que es el puto granero!"
First time I ever managed to stay awake during that film was whilst watching it in Spanish.

Some films should never have a sequel, well some films should even have a first viewing...
That aside, what films do you think they could have made a great sequel too but didn't.
I'd love to have seen a sequel to this, something a bit more sci-fi showing what would have happened as the 'next step'
Wow, this is the first movie that came to mind and in all honesty Contact was a movie which has stayed with me since I first saw it, and I always wanted more. I await impatiently the day a sequel comes out. But knowing the crap today they make it would probably suck. That aside, what films do you think they could have made a great sequel too but didn't.

I was kidding - I totally agree. A sequel would be sacrilege. Apologies for my Spanish - it's not my forte. Google translate suggested several alternatives for farmer. What's the difference between an agricultor, granero and campesino out of interest?
agricultor = agronomist / agriculturist (if such a word exists in English) Posh way of saying farmer basically.granero = farmer
campesino = peasant / farm hand
