I think we'll have to wait and see what they decide to do with it - they may just use the universe to base stories in rather than make new films that are are straight sequels/inbetweenies to episode 1-6.
So we may get a film about a rebel agent that has to infiltrate some Empire thingy around the time of episode 5, or maybe a Battlestar Galactica "spaceship on its own in enemy territory" film, etc. If one of those proves popular that one could expand into a series of 3 films.

The three Knights of the Old Republic games had a fair bit of depth to the stories (they were set thousands of years before the films with lots of Sith and Jedi running around with light sabres) so they could even go back to that era.
Hmmmm...

Actually just had a thought seeing as the Thrawn trilogy has been mentioned...

Mara Jade...

Yes please!!!

And who would be suitable to pull her off (pun ever so slightly intended)

Make it so... (Slight apologies for crossing canons there)

Scarlett Johansson?

She could do that badass, but slightly damaged thing I'd think.

Don't bring logic or examples here. They don't like it and will ignore it whilst throwing all toys out of the pram.

Ok, so there are a lot of fantasy casting rumours going round. Here's one to start off...

As a Han Solo character: Josh Holloway. Similarities of character style have been commented on before and it looks to be coming home to roost in forums now.

Any others?

Can't believe they payed $4 billion after those shocking prequels. I loved Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back when I was a kid but the rest were crap, and the X-Wing and Tie fighter were designed from sex toys, iirc. hehe
I think it was a great move. Similar to the Pixar buy.

Lucasfilms' revenue is close to $900 Million per annum as it is. Combine that with Disney's global reach and the new Star Wars attractions at their theme parks.. And the money from the next 3 films certainly won't be insignificant.

Yup. Huge turnover and great IP. Disney could make films as bad as the ones Lucas made and they would still more than make their money back.

Anyone know that all this crap existed before?
Disney and Star Wars have had a collaberation for years now, culminating (prior to the buy out) in Star Wars weekends every year at Hollywood Studios, which are in fact great fun and what spawned those toys.

For any Star wars fan, especially if you have Star wars fan kids, it's a must, I went this year and loved it, can't wait to go again.

To me this is great news, the imagination of the people at Disney is 2nd to none, of course they'll market stuff like mad and wring every cent out of franchise, that's what business is about. For me personally, I can't wait to see what they do with it, it's gonna be fantastic! biggrin

how Darth hunts down the remaining jedi and how the alliance builds up (If you're reading Mr Disney).
Order 66 destroyed that be showing that Darth only kid toddlers in the temple, and all the Jedi were killed by clones.

...We all knew it was going to happen, but holy crap was the Order 66 part brutal.
I thought it was utter st. For many reasons, but the main two being that it shows Vader had no input into killing the Jedi (going against what was said in Star Wars and destroying what his monster rep is based on) and that the mighty Jedi were all killed by a bunch of retarded 3 year old clones of a bounty hunter.

Disney made the Black Hole, which was nicely grim. They could make a new dark film, don't think they will though. Will it follow the books as canon, or will it dispense with them and make any purchases of any books about any extended universe wholly pointless in the future? I don't think Disney could be that stupid. Makes much more financial and common sense to add to rather than ignore the extended universe.

I think Disney needs to get hold of this man's telephone number.

REally random and back on topic.

My son watches the clone wars and this morning was one that I actually sat and watched. It was a sith lord that tracked down Darth Maul and found him. As he was chopped in half, he had a robotic bottom that he was synthetically attached to by some scavengers that found his body @ the bottom of that shaft. He was basically given some legs by the sith lord and the episode was him and his brother ( both Darth's ) chasing and culminating in a huge battle with OBi Wan that Obi only just escaped from.

This alongwith a main story would probably fit quite well with say a filler episode if they do it?

Kind of a Clone Wars 1 - 3 trilogy filling the gap where DarthVader is searching for the jedi and they are fighting etc. Can't be anyworse than the 1st 2 ( ep 1 & 2 ) can they ...
