Harrison Ford quoted as saying he "loves" the film. Which worries me that he likes it because he gets the ending he always wanted frown
If he does, it could be done well. Look at GoT. They kill loads of people and it adds to the story.
Han Solo is killed when a door on the Millenium Falcon malfunctions and he gets squashed.

Everything, but everything, no matter how tenuous the connection (if any) is being advertised with Star Wars at the moment.

I love it!

Didn't know where to put this! Here or the finance section! The economics of Star Wars: Modeling and systems risk analysis suggest financial ruin for the Galactic Empire and how the killing of the Death Star affected the Empire! A few assumptions were made but thought it was worth a giggle!

Just working my way through the 'original' trilogy. I hope people remember exactly what they're like before judging the new one, or perhaps I'm alone in hoping they retain the relatively simple story, kids appeal and humour.

More than anything they're great fun.

The original trilogy are great films (unadulterated), the first two are near flawless examples of great film-making. The third one is a tad wobbly, but I an forgive it as part of the trilogy as a whole.
A great example of the whole being a lot more than the sum of total parts.

I saw the other day that they are all coming out on Sky Movies next week I think. Good chance to brush up for those of us who haven't seen them for a while.

Edit: The 11th onwards.

Lawrence Kasdan has said they have humour and are "goofy". Some corners of the fans seemed to take umbrage at that but they're forgetting that was the original appeal. Before Star Wars, sci-fi was all overly serious like Silent Running, Soylent Green, 2001 etc.

Most film makers have got pretty good at being a serious film but having the odd moment of comedy. Take the Marvel films. They have some comedy moments but can also be very serious. I'm expecting a laugh or two at times.

Indeed, I saw a few comments lambasting that big droid in the trailer and concerns that BB-8 will be comedic relief....eh?!

Just break down the opening 10-15 minutes of Star Wars, let alone Return of the Jedi. You have R2 and C3PO arguing like an old married couple, funny little Jawas with their weird silly voices, droids that look like bins with feet etc. Love it!

The Force Awakens is essentially going to be 'un-reviewable'. Almost everyone is going to arrive watching the film with some sort of baggage, expecting different things of it depending on how Star Wars has been part of their lives.

Personally if I get just a single moment of child like glee, similar to that of watching Jurassic Park at the cinema as an 11 year old in 1993, it would have been worth the £12 ticket.

I though it was 8 days, unless you have tickets to the première?
