If you watch the extra documentary, she says she hadnt acted in 30 years and her first day on set she couldnt do anything and it was the worst day ever - JJ Abrams sort of agrees.

She obviously got a bit better, but yes, its not the best performance. Just being rusty is all there probably a lot of it.
She's been in well over 50 films and TV series since 1983! She has never stopped acting.

It's not the looks, I wasn't expecting Leia in a gold bikini but what I was expecting was someone who could act. Sorry but her plastic, emotionless face did nothing for me. It's so obviously botoxed to hell and back she can barely move her mouth.

Still think she should have bough the farm early in the movie rather than Han. Would have explained so much

1) Why Han is roaming the galaxy on his own, heartbroken.
2) Why Ren goes of the rails with no mother or father figures around
3) Would have kept Han in the series who is infinitely preferable to Leia in her current state.
4) Could have setup a great father\son face off later on in the series. The one in this one was pretty good but happened too soon and Han goes out like a chump. Not a fitting end for such a great character. Was one of the main things that was mishandled in the film for me.

Personally is think Ford said he'd be in this one but that's it. He wouldn't do any more. So he got written out.

Rey almost walked, because the director said she was wooden when they started. It was almost too much.

Out on DVD etc. today.

My copy should be at home when I finish work. Watched this on new year's day and pretty much forgot about it. Only ordered the blu-ray on Friday night as I had some credit card money to use up.

Had an email from Amazon regarding my BR order:

"The galaxy is coming home to you! Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-Ray has been dispatched‏"

half way through this and i'm impressed so far - perhaps just a little too much humour but i'm being picky.

Daisy Ridley is a revelation! what a superstar in the making.

debates about the voice of kylo ren for me he sounds like a synthersised version of Xerxes from 300.

If they get round to releasing a special directors extended edition then this is at least one issue they could fix. I felt too that the pacing was too fast - I'd thought on first viewing it was just down to the excitement of a new 'proper' star wars movie, but having rewatched it this week then yeah it was just too squashed in.

Either ditch the silly cgi monster sequence that didn't really add anything and replace it with some more explanation / padding to slow the pace down or just add some filler in. Either would have been better but hey ho, it's still enjoyable.
I'm going to hold off buying for a bit in the hope of an extended edition. The movie was crying out for some slower scenes to make it feel less rushed.

Sainsburys have the BR for £12 and the DVD for £7 if you spend £30 or more in store.

Strange that it came out a week ago digitally? My apple tv version unlocked last Monday. Does this always happen? Perhaps its because I preordered?

The digital version, like many other big films, sometimes are released a week earlier than the hard copy. I bought the film from SKY last week, so I could watch it early, so I'm going to have the DVD from SKY and the BR from Amazon arrive - all because I couldn't wait!

After watching it for the first time yesterday, I thought if was awful...

The idea of someone other than a jedi using a light sabre?

A woman randomly training HERSELF to obtain jedi like mind powers!? Something that should take years to learn...

Good Lord what's the world coming to!?

Is there nothing sacred left in this world!?

Remember that ^^ when we discover she's a skywalker.

Remember it being said that R2 was dormant since luke left, then woke up when she was on site?
Bit of a clue there.
Also when badass reached for the sabre and it went past him and to her?
Another clue there.

Got my BR disc (dark side sleeve) this morning on way to work.

I watched it on the plane home from my honeymoon, still enjoyed it, but i am looking forward to the deleted scenes, as my mates read the novel based on a previous script and theres a few bits in there that SHOULD have been in the film, better story telling and more gravitas to Han\Ren scene later.

The deleted scenes are st and dont add anything to anything. There are 5 and I think they are all under a minute. Dissapointing.

The main documentary is quite good though.

Ah well, the sad thing is, theres onbiosly a lot been changed, mainly from maz kanata parts onwards, as a lot of toys and promotional images arent in the film, but there are toys for them, i.e. imperial snow speeder, and the whole republic world going bang, all the people on a balcony looking at it coming, they are all apparently quite important to the republic and Leia., but you only find this out from the DK visual guide book (i got it for £3 in tesco instead of £25 rrp!

I still really like it, its my joint 3rd with Jedi now. Empire still the best.

Though i STILL need to watch rogue one trailer on something that isnt my stty phone screen!
