You guys can argue about poncy camera angles etc all you like.

What I want to know is which decided to change the x wing helmet? New one is well rubbish, original is awesome. Bloody philistines.

It's 30 years later, there's bound to be some changes. WW2 helmets do not look like WW1

Really? By stating that "willing a suspension of disbelief" is an act of will? I'd have thought I would have been accused of stating the bleedin' obvious rather than have someone disagree with the statement.
Apart from the absurd camera angle thing, you are complaining about something that is not even in the official trailer!

Yes, but technology evolves. Between WW1 and WW2, armed warfare had progressed a lot. Star was is set in space. Space. Think about that.

30 years is not a big timescale for a bunch of humans and crazy aliens that can travel faster than the speed of light. If, (in a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away) the best helmet design for an x wing was a really cool helmet with orange geps and a chin strap, then the best helmet was that. Given that they're still in x wings, some gay "moped commuter with intercom" helmet is probably not top of the agenda for the team trying to make a better x wing. I somewhat doubt flight helmet technology had that far to advance whilst the rest of the ship had droids, s foils (sometimes in attack position), and frickin lazers.

It's arse. You know it's arse, I know it's arse, and everyone else knows it's arse. Next thing you know you'll need something better than a small metal rod to identify the presence of droids. Bloody rebel scum.

Are we seriously talking about the realism of CGI camera angles??

We're talking about a made up world. It doesn't it exist.

Surely if you're happy to enjoy the fake world the film is depicting then we should be happy to imagine an amazing cameraman able to capture these angles hehe

Quite, I'd be more impressed how they've managed to capture sound in a vacuum...

And the helmets? Had to watch the trailer again, yeah they're a bit different but still open face/yellow visor jobbies? confused

^ without wanting to jump in on the cinematography debate, EVERY film is fake. Does this mean that silly camera angles are indisputable?

Personally, I have no issue at all with the lasers straight into the camera bit, but think the u turn camera shot of the falcon in the trailer is balls. If they'd done it less "playstation", it'd have looked much better - and more dramatic.

You've clearly given it more thought than I did. Maybe they are a different design factory?

If small details like the helmet piss you off, I would advise heavily readjusting your expectations of this movie. JJA changed most of the startrek 'look' and sound, even making the phasers ping like bullets...

Why tatooine again? That does not bode well for original thoughts going into the story.

I'd just like to point out that I only raised this as a possible explanation of why people complain about CG in films.

Bloody hell - if a 80 second teaser trailer can spawn 10 pages of arguments over camera angles etc. , the movie itself is going to break the internet frown
