Watched Robocop (2014) tonight. As a fan of the original I wasn't expecting much... and it didn't deliver much. It just sort of ticked along without any sort escalation - murphy is murphy all the way through, no big reveals, its just hes in a metal suit. Only difference is hes nice to start then they tinker with a laptop and hes nice still but a bit tastier with a gun and then they tinker some more and hes moody but still tasty with a gun and then they tinker some more and hes nice again but now his gun doesn't work, meh I just didn't really care about him.
The humour of the original film is missing. Those brief scenes with Samuel l Jackson were cringy, if they were in any way supposed to take the place of the TV reports from the original.
In fact, the whole film can just be summed up by the word "joyless". The original was fun to watch, fun to repeat the lines, you imagine it was fun to have made it.... this one everyone seemed to just be going through the motions and hoping it was over soon.
yup, very poor, another rubbish remake

watched this last night and was bored to tears, pretty good summary of how I felt. I fell asleep towards the end just couldn't be arsed at all with it.

it took far too long "making" Robocop and very little action, no decent one liners, just completely rotten. 2/10

Just watched a recording and loved it, exciting, well acted and a soppy love/feel good story.

Cop Land
I love Ray Liotta and Stallone - this was decent, though not amazing. It sort of reminded me of 3:10 to Yuma - at least the ending did anyway!

7/10

Space Jam
Enough has been said in this thread already.

An easy 10/10

Great all the way up to the end. Such a cop out.

Downfall

I can't stand having read subtitles for just one line of speech, let alone for 2 and a half hours - but wow, it was absolutely sublime. I was surprised that Hitler died so early on in the film too!

The Pianist

Another WW2 film, this one actually had me almost in tears at several points. Very powerful film and from what I've read since watching it, its very faithful to the true story behind the films protagonist.

Experiments in the Revival of Organisms

This is a short film (20 mins) that is available on YouTube from back in 1940, its a documentary about the soviets 'successful' experiments in bringing the dead back to life.
Don't watch this if you hate to see animals being tested on, I ended up hugging my cat and dog for an hour after!

I'm seeing Bad Neighbours at the cinema today and I plan to watch Schindlers List later on too.

I'm not normally a war film person but Schindlers List is a fantastic film, thoroughly recommended.

I've got The Pianist but I've never seen it, must get round to it one day soon!

Was on tv recently, fascinating and powerful. Watching the Nazi's as normal people was surprisingly moving

I really like this film although there are parts that I find hard to watch (Goebbels' kids). Alexandra Maria Lara, who plays the secretary Traudl Junge is bloody lovely too.

Tokarev - Nic Cage has a history of crime and his daughter goes missing. He tries to track down all his previous links/enemies and starts fighting with them etc. I knew this was going to be bad, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Total amateur crap.

Watched this the other night, I think you're praising it too highly. Can't believe I made it to the end.

Has anybody seen the film's enemy or double? Those are two very disturbing films. With layers of meaning. I won't get into a synopsis of either of them, yet. I want to know if anybody else has actually viewed these movies first. If anyone has seen the film enemy I would love to hear what you think about the ending.

This film was so bad I didn't even finish watching it. Is it just me or is Nick Cage looking really really strange as he gets older?
I'm still trying to figure out when in his career did he get fake hair implants.

That Awkward Moment - Typical romcom storyline, and I know Zac Efron isn't the most acclaimed actor out there, but this film is pr
etty funny, lots of 'lad' humour in it. Also features Imogen Poots who's making quite a name of herself in the biz. I expect to see a lot more of her in the near future.
. I thought it was pretty good as well. Has some pretty raunchy moments in it but also very funny ones as well. I definitely recommend this film for sure.

Went to see Blue Ruin at my local arthouse yesterday. Excellent indie movie, a tale of vendetta and mayhem in the american south. Clearly made on a budget, but it really doesn't show in the production. If you can see yourself enjoying a sort of combination of tarantino but without the excess dialogue, american gothic, and tennessee williams with automatic rifles, it'll be a couple of hours well spent.

Pompeii - 2/10 or maybe 3/10 a truly predictable film that was poor to say the least. honestly within 5 minutes of seeing the start of it you could pretty much write the rest of the movie. Gladiator meets Dante's peak but ten times worse.

a boy see's his family getting slaughter by some romans
he then becomes a slave and a gladiator
he has to fight this st hot gladiator
he falls in love with some female of importance who also falls in love with him, this is not the done thing even I know that!!!
some other roman wants this woman and becomes pissed with this gladiator
boom a volcano explodes
predictable action/love scenes ensue
I fall asleep

Bad Neighbours

Actually a really enjoyable film, easy to watch and did have some genuine laughs.

8/10 (Not to be confused with other 8/10's I give for non-comedies, I have different rating scales!)

Schindler's List

Wow. Just wow. I was almost in tears by the end.

9/10
