Blue Ruin - I give it 5 /10 cos it was just nasty, gory and a story made up from a stupid family misunderstanding.
Before the Winter Chill 9/10
A french take ( with subtitles ) on Fatal Attraction - its a winner.
The Two Faces of January next week unless I hear different.
The Two Faces of January 9/10
Things just got better.
Strongly recommended, even got a good review on Woman's Hour - I came to it with an open mind but as it was a Patricia Highsmith story ( Talented Mr Ripley + Strangers on a Train ), expected a lot and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed every minute. A true thriller of the Dashiel Hammett style. A femme fatale, a private dick, a con-man - two in fact, set in Greece, mix and stand back. Brill.

Quite enjoyed The Internship. A couple of High Flying Salesmen (Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson) get made redundant and end up working for Google.
Was a little bit like a Google commercial, but I enjoyed.

it was fking hopeless, I hate to put you down because you like a film and I didn't plus you actually bothered your arse to write a review instead of pokemon the movie - 3/10. WTF, why even post just the title and a rating..............wits the point. Unless its Spacejam of course then we all know the plot off by heart and know its great.

Anyway, I could pretty much predict every single moment of the Internship.....a truly horrible, processed, generic, uneventful comedy film, nothing like Spacejam.

Olympus has Fallen. A solid 60% Yes totally cliched but fun none-the-less with some nice touches on how the Whitehouse was breached. Believable? I'd say not at all (especially vis-a-vis how dumb the secret service agents were!!) but still good splodey fun

I had a bit of a movie weekend

Pacific Rim:
I had no inclination to watch this but i thought id put it on anyway. Everybody knows about it so this is more for the people like me who havent watched it because giant robots dont appeal. If youre in on a friday or saturday night and bored, whack it on and take your brain out. It is so much fun. For being very similar to Battleship, it is infinitely better. 8/10 from me.

Here comes the Boom.
If you need cheering up than get your sick bags ready and put this on. Great fun but not in a slapstick way. Entertaining and good fun. 8/10

The conjuring.
Freaky and weird demonic satanic exorcism of a families house. Disturbing and jumpy in equal measure but well put together with good pacing etc. 8/10

Desperation
Stephen King adaptation about a sheriff who is possessed going a bit psycho on towns people. Its good but a bit long and goes a bit too religious and preachy. Does star Ron Perlman though so 5/10

The Crazies
A low budget 'outbreak' with Timothy Olyphant. Avoid 3/10.

The Iceman
The story of psychopathic mob killer who claims to have killed over a 100 people for the Mob, including Jimmy Hoffa. Interesting but really out of morbid curiosity only. Michael Shannon is excellent in it though. 6/10

Assassination of a high school president.
I saw Bruce Willis on the cover and thought it might be some decent thriller about an assassination. What they meant was character assassination. By a budding sophomore journalist and then his attempts to find the truth and undo all the troubles his article has caused. Its such a throw away film that attempts to be good, tries to be good but has so many contradicting storylines: It changes from being a serious attempt at a thriller, before dealing with hormonal high school issues, to bizarre of the wall comedy with Bruce Willis just being plain weird. 5/10 just.

AVP Requiem.
LOL -5/10

Straw Dogs
Girl goes back to the hick town where she grew up with her city husband in tow. Townsfolk dont like him, start to resent her and something happens that makes everything go all vigilante. Good and disturbing. 7/10

I think thats it.

should have been rubbish... even has one of the guys say whilst breaking the the 4th wall, 'this must be some kind of hot tub time machine'... but it was really quite funny and entertaining IMO...

Elysium 6.5/10 not bad to watch actually. Alot better than I thought it would be.
I just watched Elysium too. The reviews were a bit disappointing so I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it. I love the weapons in it (and District 9).
Sharlto Copley was a brilliant villan. Weapons were very cool and i really liked the way real world vehicles were used even though it was set in the future.
Copley was THE only highlight of a dissapointing film for me.

wafer thin plot, lots of holes in it (like for example if the exoskeleton was "welded" to his body, why did he have a t-shirt under it? oh, and wasn't matt damon dying of radiation exposure?).

there are many more, aside from that the premise was good IF it had been about trying to rectify the balance between have's and have nots, or normal people striving for something unobtainable through revolution for example...

the idea that a "government" can be over thrown by a computer virus that appeared to be written in ten minutes...again...I couldn't buy into large parts of this...

5/10 (yes the guns were cool, as was the personal defense shield type arrangemnet).

I liked the idea of this, but it missed with me, needed far more gags.

Hopefully the sequel will be a bit better

I did wonder how he got his t-shirt back on.

Can't wait for 22JS. The first one was a genuinely funny film with good, likeable characters and a half decent (though simple) plot.

Me and a friend used to be in the Police and everyone we know who see's 21JS says thats me and him! smile

The drug scene is one of the funniest scenes in recent comedies.

I am going to give Sherlock Holmes - Game of Shadows a few big raps - A cracking good yarn I'd call it and thank th elord they sorted out RDJs accent for this one - the first one he was almost indecipherable mumbling his way through the film....

good actors, silly but go with it plot, a decent villain and a some nice touches...

8/10 from me.

Just watched Stoker

Very odd but I quite enjoyed it. Story follows a young girl whose father dies, an Uncle comes to stay at her house (with her mother) but all isn't what it seems with him.

Quite weird but worth a watch; good cinematography and a well-matched soundtrack.

solid 7/10 from me
