Good films I watched this weekend (Vol 2)
Discussion
The Trueman show – 8/10 we all know the plot, big brother with Jim Carrey, one of his early and good films
The Cable Guy – 6/10 id never seen it before, it wasn’t great, certainly not his best work but it wasn’t as bad as others made out.
Short circuit – 3/10 I fell asleep after 30 minutes, it wasn’t as good as I remember
Roxanne – 3/10 steve martin has a big nose, I fell asleep again after 30 minutes

Guardians of the Galaxy - a wonderful bit of pure summer fun, up there with the best of the kind. Not alljust tongue-in-cheek jokes (most of which are excellent), but a decent clever story. It has faults, but truth be told - you wouldn't care. 8.5/10
yup - I'm at 8.5-9/10. Perfect scifi entertainmentAdam B said:
really? heard it was utter pants, have you seen the first one (which I thought was crap) and how does it compare?
TBH I don't critiscise films much. I'll watch anything that has action in it. I did prefer the first one but I enjoyed this one. I like the main character too from a couple of other films.
Worth a watch in my eyes.

True Lies is on More 4 at the moment, it's just one of those films that I'll happily watch if I see it's on, God knows how many times I've seen it now!
Now that is a good film. I was off work ill for a couple of days this week and so took the opportunity to get through a bit of the backlog on the Sky+. Having recorded it about this time last year, I finally got around to watching The Road.
Pro-tip: if you're already feeling a bit crap and sorry for yourself, this is not ideal viewing material. Feel-good film, it aint. (I did realise that when I put it on, of course....)
I really enjoyed it. Very well-acted by Viggo Mortensen and Kody Schmitt-McPhee. I defy any bloke who has a kid of his own not to find that they have something in their eye on at least one occasion during the film.....

really interesting, I thought it was the most frustrating film I have ever watched. To this day I still do not know what had happened to make the earth almost uninhabitable.Pro-tip: if you're already feeling a bit crap and sorry for yourself, this is not ideal viewing material. I kept waiting for the twist and nothing. I felt cheated at the end of it.

I know what you mean - the lack of explanation would normally have irked me too, but I suppose I was forewarned in that I'd read the book beforehand (which also dodges any such explanation) and so didn't really expect to have the background explained. I kept waiting for the twist and nothing. I felt cheated at the end of it.
It's now what the film's about after all - it's a character piece about the Man and the Boy, rather than about what had happened to make things the way they were. Certainly not your average End Of The World film, that's for sure.
