The Double - Directed by that guy from The IT Crowd, starring Jesse Eisenberg. A guy (Jesse Eisenberg) freaks out when a new co-worker arrives who is his exact body double. That's what I got from the first 30 minutes anyway, I turned off after that. Eerie, bleak, weird and just mind numbing, and not in a good way. I skipped through to the ending and it looks like I didn't miss much.
It's supposed to be a comedy, isn't it? I read the synopsis and wondered if it was similar to The Man Who Haunted Himself, with Roger Moore from the early 1970s, which most certainly wasn't a comedy.

Imdb has it down as Drama/thriller.

I didn't think it was uniquely different.

Yeah it was more of a drama. Wikipedia says it's a 'black comedy', whatever that is.

The hooligan factory.

A spoof football hooligan film that spoofs the whole genre. Very funny and worth a watch.

Closed Circuit.

Read bad reviews, and there are some serious holes in the plot, but worth a watch. Good score (but far too much of it). Good cast and atmosphere.

6/10

Also watched Mud today, has Matthew McConaughey in. I enjoyed it. A film about a couple of young boys who find a fugitive and try to help him.

Worth a watch in my opinion.

The Hunt (Jagten). Powerful Danish film that is not one to watch if you are feeling a little down or don't fancy an emotionally intense film. If however you do fancy such a film, you like great acting and cinematography, and you don't mind subtitled films then I can most definitely recommend this. It features a superb performance by Mads Mikkelson (probably best known for his roles as Hannibal Lecter in the TV drama and Le Chiffre in Casino Royale).

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone – 7/10 although a bit slow in places and a bit predictable I really enjoyed this movie. It features Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Steve Carell and Olivia Wide. I'd never heard of it till last night. It was released in 2013, kinda slipped under my radar.

A story about two “traditional style” magicians who have lost their way performing the same routine for over a decade in Vegas, falling out with their love of magic.

Jim Carrey plays the part of a sort of David Blane who causes the pair to rethink they’re routine.

A totally infectious feel good soundtrack did help. A feel good, crap day at work film to wile away a few hours.

Fling away fun as I like to call films like these, predictable light hearted entertainment with a happy ending. It’s one of these films that you wouldn’t go to see at the cinema but you might stumble across years after release in a bargain bin or on the BBC at Christmas time, holding little hope for it but only to be pleasantly surprised. It’s never going to be a classic but it’s far from being rotten.

Guardians of the Galaxy

It was good but I don't think it deserves all the praise it has recevied.
Awesome effects, some funny lines, half decent acting and a simple plot to tie it together.

7/10

Inbetweeners 2 tomorrow! I have low expectations as this one is without doubt a cashcow.

Boyhood
As a technical excercise, one of sheer commitment to the art/cause, this is a pretty remarkable bit of film. Thankfully the story holds your attention and the acting is bearable too. It's just a good solid slice of life that doesn't depress or sugar coat.
I don't quite understand the IMDB stats though...

I'm going for a solid 7.1

It's not the weekend, but Raiders of the Lost Ark has just started on BBC3!

I'd forgotten just how good this film is, great cast, enough japes and stunts to keep you interested, good plot, and under it all a good script and story line. Something that many of the current Holywood "all effects" films consistently fail to deliver.......

I love this film...Watching it now - Unbelievable to think it was made in 1981.

Really stood the test of time well hasn't it! And because it mainly contains "real" stunts, it hasn't got much of that terrible "film based" Special Effects that really dates some films.

The Inbetweeners 2

Like most people in their early 20's I love The Inbetweeners and whilst the first movie was good I never thought it was on par with the TV series. I found the sequel to be a lot funnier though it did sort of suffer from a few moments of "nothingness". Theres not much I can say without spoiling it but I highly recommend it to fans of the series!
