The Incredible Burt Wonderstone – 7/10 although a bit slow in places and a bit predictable I really enjoyed this movie. It features Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Steve Carell and Olivia Wide. I'd never heard of it till last night. It was released in 2013, kinda slipped under my radar.

A story about two “traditional style” magicians who have lost their way performing the same routine for over a decade in Vegas, falling out with their love of magic.

Jim Carrey plays the part of a sort of David Blane who causes the pair to rethink they’re routine.

A totally infectious feel good soundtrack did help. A feel good, crap day at work film to wile away a few hours.
Started to watch this having read this review...Got to the part when Jim Carrey does the street show and had to turn it off. How this bloke made it in Hollywood is beyond me, one dimensional springs to mind.

1/10 - Don't bother

Went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Loved it! Would like to call it the best comic book adaptation from the last decade. Up there with Captain America: WS.
Great popcorn movie, audience was lolling at more than one occasion.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was quite good as well.

Going to see Lucy tonight.

I grew up and liked Jim Carrey, his earlier work is great, I have to agree with you though he is a likeable Adam Sandler, by that I mean he plays the same role every movie.

its by no means a classic but its not a 1/10 but if you didn't enjoy it you didn't enjoy it.

there are certain actors out there that I cannot stand and would turn off most movies due to them

Incendies - French/Canadian film with subs, but bear with me!

After a woman succumbs to a stroke at a swimming pool her son and daughter attend the reading of her will and are mysteriously instructed they must journey to her birthplace in Lebanon before they can commemorate her death. While the son is reticent the daughter soon discovers she didn't know her mother at all.

It's a bit confusing at first because the film meshes a series of flashbacks from the mother's life with the daughter's journey of discovery, and there are some striking parallels between mother and daughter, but once I twigged what was going on I got really engrossed.

It's quite brutal in places, and I was left wondering whether it was wise to lead them to the shocking truth, but it's a very good story.
My wife and I found that film to be the most depressing piece of cinema we had ever seen.

A sickening reveal.
Finally watched this last night based on this posts and I wasn't disappointed. I didn't find it depressing but yes, it's tough and raw in places. Once you twig the 'truth' it's a real eyebrow-raiser.

Also my opinion that this part of the world is essentially backward, isn't too far away. 8/10

Watching a film called Starred Up.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2567712/

Starring Jack O'Connell. He was good in Skins, he's pretty good in this. Good if you like a violent, English flick.
Me and the Mrs sat down to this on Sunday night.....it was really very good indeed.

The lead actor certainly knows how to play an unhinged, dangerous bugger. The group "therapy" scenes were also excellent when they're all kicking off and "flexin an 'ting'".

Deffo worth a watch. Really good.

Have you seen eternal sunshine of the spotless mind? Shows JC doesn't always play the same roll. But he usually does. He does it well though. Me, myself and Irene is my favourite of his.

I caught some of his early stand up the other day. It was a lot funnier than I was expecting.

8/10 for being so outrageous (and the kid is brill)
yes

Watched this yesterday, brilliantly crude. Genuine LOL moments, some of the bystander reactions were hilarious. Agreed, 8/10 (if you like that kind of thing - which I do!)

7/10
I absolutely hated Bad Grandpa, it just didn't work for me - it didn't work as fiction because the stunts and reactions were all too obvious and it didn't work as reality because it has such a slow story - it was a real shame for me because the trailer looked great fun.

2 Guns.

I am not normally a big fan of 'high-octane action leave brain at door' films, but this was very, very entertaining. Great banter between the main characters (Mark Wahlberg & Denzel Washington), great action, hilarious characters, wonderful boobies and loads of great cars!

I can remember coming away from the cinema thinking: those two actors had great fun - it really showed.

yes

Watched the 'Making Of' extra on the DVD. They were clearly having a ball making that film. I was sat there thinking 'bds. That's not work'. More power to them.

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Morning Vietnam - 9.5/10 I'm sure we have all seen it before but a rollercoaster of laughs and sombre moments. I actually found myself laughing out loud at some moments and I never do that with films. The other half thought it was utter ste.

Great Budapest Hotel. Loved it, great performances with everyone hamming it up, beautifully shot as you would expect with Wes Anderson & squeezed the best out of a fairly thin story. Lots of laughs, I'd say 7/10.
Really enjoyed that, it's Wes Anderson turned up to 11!

Olympus Has Fallen
Not bad - lots of action but a tried and tested plot of terrorists taking over a building (The White House in this instance), seizing control of nukes and the good guy saving the day. Lots of action though and an easy watch. 8/10.

Filth
Quite funny but slightly disturbing. James McAvoy was great in it as Det Robertson and they recreated he book quite well. 7/10.
