Am I missing something, if you don't like that genre of film, don't watch it.

I'm not a superhero fan, the only one I like is Batman.

I tried watching Superman and The Avengers but they weren't for me so I don't watch any.

I'd don't like rom coms so I don't watch them.
THen you are missing out. The best films of all genres are generally good enough to be enjoyed by everyone.

I hate romcoms with a passion, yet loved 4 weddings and liked Notting Hill/Sliding Doors.
I hate silly fantasy films (because I'm not a tiny baby) yet love Lord of the Rings
I hate marvelly superhero stuff (because I am not a tiny baby) yet Iron Man was hugely entertaining as were a couple of the Batmen.
I hate sci fi films yet loved Alien, Terminator and others
etc

Pretty enjoyable, not sure I agree with Tom Cruise, who is relatively short, playing a character who is tall, but he did a fantastic job.

Storyline is interesting, some of the characters were boring as hell but they can't all be perfect.

7/10 from me.
It was an entertaining film and Cruise is always watchable, but he is NOT Jack Reacher.

Fan of the show, quite liked the first film but this was dire. It started off reasonably OK but went down hill quickly. I don't expect Citizen Kane but the story/script was very poor then it just kind of ended. 4/10
was also disappointed in this.. enjoyed the first, but this one was a tad boring, I even half nodded off a couple times which hasn't happened to me for quite some time during a film smile

Watched Chef the other night, was a very enjoyable comedy.. got me heading to the fridge for a half time snack though! [7/10]

Guardians of the Galaxy.
Walking tree, talking raccoon, which would put a lot of people off.
Great fun for everybody though.

Pacific Rim
A giant robot hits a giant monster with a freight ship.

The Fault in our Stars - 7/10 I stuck it on as I couldn't find anything else to watch. My God, do not watch if your feeling low. Two teenagers with cancer in love, you don't need to be Bergerac to figure out what happens.

On a serious note, why don't I fall in love like that!

Speaking of rom-coms I watched Perks of Being A Wall Flower with the mrs (yep, I never heard of it either!) I thought it was very good, for a teenage movie. Solid 7/10

Caught Sin City 2 last night and loved it. Big fan of the first which I still prefer but this was another great film. 8/10

Dredd: Surprisingly good but obviously filmed on a tiny budget. I think they could've done with better actors overall, but the two main judges were really good.

Escape Plan: Stallone and Schwarzenegger were great in it, and it made me realise just how much screen presence Schwarzenegger has. The rest of the film was st though - Vinnie Jones plays cockney thug again. It's a shame the plot and minor characters were so bad, because the two main stars deserved something better.

Looper: T'was okay. Started off a lot better than it ended. It had the potential to be so much better as the premise of it is very interesting.

The Prestige

An absolute gem of a movie from Christoper Nolan. made between Batman Begins and TDK so understandable if people didn't hear about this. It is a story of 2 magicians set in 19th century London, who at first are friendly rivals but tragedy makes them fierce enemies. The film goes along at a perfect pace giving gentle twists along the way until you believe you have guessed how it will end, but you haven't...

something original, stunning picture and absolute perfection in every way. Im going to say this is Nolan's best and the only time i have given a film in this thread 10/10
One of my favourite films yet hardly anybody has heard of it!
yes

Personally i believe its Nolan's best film to date, it seems nobody has ever heard of because it was made between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, seems remarkable he can churn out 3 great movies in such a short space of time
I've always thought that the non Dark Knight films are Nolans best work. I like the DK trilogy but they rank as 8/10 films for me rather than the 9/10 I would give to The Prestige, Inception and Memento.

I think it's because the DK films always feel like they have been watered down/sanitized a little for the masses, rather than being made how Nolan really wanted them.

I've just been and ordered the BR of The Prestige from Amazon as I've been writing this. smile
another vote for The Prestige here!

picked it up in a blockbuster bargain bucket for £2 too! hadn't heard about the film before then but thoroughly enjoyed it. From speaking to friends not many had heard about it either. perhaps it came out at the time of a major blockbuster and got overshadowed?

May even put it on tonight now after getting in from work smile
I finally got round to watching this. Recorded it on the pvr and its been sat on it for weeks.

Well what a turn out. Brilliant film. Slightly silly with the whole Tesla cloning machine but Bowie was awesome as Tesla. Great film.

I switched the film off a few mins into it. Read the book after seeing the trailer and I really enjoyed it despite not being the target market for it. Might give the film another go, but just doesn't seem anywhere near as good as the book.

No I haven't read the book, had no knowledge of it till it popped up.

I did have a lump in my throat a few times it has to be said.

Hypocritically, I haven't seen the film yet. I plan on watching with the girlfriend soon. I only said the book is better because I have read it, and it's common knowledge that the book is ALWAYS better. ALWAYS.

Very much more of the same. Quite funny in places everyone watching was laughing but none of the "I can't breath" moments of the TV series or the first movie. It relied a bit too much on the use of stereotypes but then used those well.
The overall plot was predictable but we enjoyed it 6.5/10
