Amazon Prime Video recently added "Downfall" to the catalogue of films available so I watched it today as I've not seen it before.

It was very weird seeing the bunker scene 'for real' having seen so many parodies using it.

But that aside, it was a good film that really highlighted the insanity of the last days of WW2.

The Guest

I didn't know what to expect as hadn't seen any trailers and expected it to be a serious soldier film.

I was wrong and so pleased.

It is a crazy thriller with a retro vibe and slasher tendencies. Hugely funny in such a dark way. The cinema was roaring with laughter.

9/10

My 10-year-old son is going through an Arnie phase, so we watched "Kindergarton Cop" yesterday.

Better than I remember, and one of Schwarzenegger's better acting performances IMO!
I put on Last Action Hero for my 7 year old son, he must have liked it as he asked to watch it again a week later biggrin

I'll go for Kindergarten cop next.

I like Twins too, but Junior was terrible!

Inbetweeners 2.
I enjoyed it more than the first film. A good laugh.

Captain America 2. Can't really go in to much detail without spoiling the plot (although annoyingly IMDB and RT both readily state who the Winter Soldier is) but it's a surprisingly involving and deep film which addresses the balance between freedom and protection in a very interesting manner. One thing that does bug me about all the solo movies post Avengers though is why don't they call on the rest of the team for help? And why didn't Stark discover the secret about SHIELD when he hacked their mainframe?

Rampage - Capital Punishment.

Good film. Not quite up to the original film but a worthy sequel.
I didn't know this was out yet, thanks. I have a possibly unhealthy liking for the first film.

Does anyone wish to receive some Kevlar plates in the post for me?

the first one was a cracking little movie - I was actually shocked that Mr Boll was responsible for it!

Guardians of the Galaxy

Was not expecting much - I knew nothing about the comic book and thought it would be full of in jokes. The poster looked odd, but nothing else to see at the cinema.

Wow what a fantastic film, best I have watched in a long time. Dam funny, great action sequences, Great soundtrack (since bought it!). Film of the year for me and - I would give it a solid 9/10

Finally gotten round to watching Man of Steel (never knowingly ahead of the curve).

Current observations - Morpheus has put on some timber.
- Amy Adams cloud9

Edge of tomorrow - really very good. I like Tom and he does a really good job in this as his character develops over time. And for a well worn concept, felt really fresh.

8/10

+1 As a fan of the genre, great work. Also The Signal (2014) is a cracking little sci-fi film. Nice twists, tension and character 7.2/10

Inside Llewyn Davis. As an unmitigated fan of all things Coen Brothers, I was looking forward to this. However...it's far from up there with the best. The elements are all there, including, as usual, a turn from John Goodman & a great performance from Ethan Phillips, but overall it just doesn't tick enough of the weird boxes that you would expect. It's still pretty good to look at although I didn't catch whether Roger Deakins photographed it but for me, it was a slight disappointment.
