I'm quite surprised I'm posting this here.
Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter
It's not a serious documentary, it takes elements of Lincoln's life and twists a tale of betrayal and vampires into it. Although the whole premise is daft it takes the idea and runs with it sticking solidly to its own internal logic and rules and as a daft superhero movie it works. It's well acted (Rufus Sewell camps it up nicely as head vampire) the fights are well choreographed and it looks good.
On the downside he powerslides a horse drawn carriage. On the upside he throws a horse at him!
On an absolute scale it's no more than a 5 as a fun action movie it's an easy 8/10.
I'd agree with all of that. I saw it a few weeks ago on Amazon Prime Video and initially was completely but then I started to get into it and in the end absolutely loved it. Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter

I didn't realise that the Vampire Hunter guy who trains Abe was played by Dominic Cooper (who played Ian Fleming in the miniseries about him) until quite a while in. He looked so different.

I watched The Signal this week, twice.
Nice premise, hip young "hackers" following a trail of some uber hacker, although its a trap. I watched it twice because something was bugging me about it. one thing, the sound effects. All the best scifi movies have contributed sound effects to this movie, if in background noise or action noise. Its quite fun to pick them out, example, when the protagonist is dragging his GF to the elevator, we hear the image processor from Bladerunner, enhancing the picture of Zhora in the hotel room.
Another thing got me from the second viewing
the ending, was their whole life a simulation ala Matrix style. The ship was big enough to have contained the desert scene, why not their world. When they get abducted, there is no hint of a flying saucer or some other craft, they just get plucked into thin air. Their finding the signal from Nomad, alerted their alien captors that they had potential.
So all in not a bad little movie I thought, 7/10.
the end for me was complete garbage IMO, too slow and about an hour into I realised, they haven't a clue of how to finish this. Started off rather well, but felt majorly let down.Nice premise, hip young "hackers" following a trail of some uber hacker, although its a trap. Space Jam 10/10
Classic Film, Michael Jordan at his best, Really worth a watch if you haven't seen it
Arsenalmorris, you've made a little over 100 posts. I reckon over 1/2 of them are about spacejam. We get the fecking picture. Classic Film, Michael Jordan at his best, Really worth a watch if you haven't seen it

Walking with Tombstones - Pretty good, edgy and dark, but could have used a little more violence and possibly have been a little darker. Liam Neeson is still a badass on the phone! 7/10
Plastic - UK film and based on a true story apparently, good fun although I am not sure how much of it was part of the true story. The young actor, Poulter, is the brother of a primary school classmate, good to see him doing well in films. 7.5/10

More general dislike for the Signal than I expected, though I watched it completely out of the blue which always helps, having no expectations.
Borgman, loved this Dutch film. Quirky, dark, comic, a little frightening. A mysterious vagrant involves himself with a middle class family. 8.2/10
Now just to engender a bit of hate, I didn't think much of The Grand Budapest Hotel 6/10 at best. I'm a Wes Anderson fan, Fantastic Mr. Fox is in my top 10 and the Royal Tenenbaums is right up there but TGBH seemed to take every Wes Anderson conceit, turn them upto 11 and stuff it into the same film. Ralph Fiennes comic turn felt self concious and indulgent, at no point did I immerse in his performance, always aware I was watching Ralph Fiennes acting quirky. Not terrible but by Andersons standards I think a bit less might be more.
