The Rum Diary
homage to Hunter S Thompson

Fab on so many levels, Johnny Depp, Chenault, the crazy car and side car rides, the beaches, the beach house, great story line, including a good ending.

A+

Saw the Purge Anarchy this afternoon and really enjoyed it. Ridiculous idea but very watchable and quite tense in some parts and can easily see another film to follow been made.

Yes I thought it was pretty good too.

I also attempted to watch 22 Jump Street - what a pile of garbage, I didn't even make it halfway through.

A walk amongst the tombstones

Liam Neeson plays Liam Neeson in this Taken like film, although the feel is much less wham-bam and far darker and tense, with a 7even type of feel.
So in effect it's nothing like Taken, other than the fact Liam Neeson leads in both...
It ain't about his estranged family
He isn't ex special forces
It's not about his revenge, and he doesn't actually kick much ass in "A Walk..."

He's an ex tough cop with some crippling issues hired to help a gang get revenge... dark and tense is right.
oh come on

Liam Nesson doing the tough guy routine - check
Ex cop vs ex special forces
Kidnapped daughter vs kidnapped other people

there are some pretty clear parallels, and I point out the differences

It's not exactly Liam Neeson in Love Actually is it!
no but it's not Liam Neeson in an action film either (!)
S'fine you think there are parallels..I don't..lets move on beer

'71 - absolutely brilliant ( 9 /10 )
Northern Ireland troubles brought home and edge of the seat tension on whether the squaddie hero will make it back to the Barracks after being left behind when a riot turns ugly.
Great atmosphere - a car or bus burning on the street in most shots and sudden and unexpected violence shakes you to the enormity of the dangers that abound. Enjoy.

A Bronx Tale

Finally got round to watching this. So many familiar faces, almost seemed like half the cast of The Sopranos were in this film. Good storyline and acting, not quite as good as the classics like Goodfellas or Casino but still a good film. Also spotted a few lines and scenes that were referenced in a Jay Z song and a video for one of his other tracks.

Guys, if the OH in your life decides she wants to sit you through yet another romantic comedy then suggest Stuck in Love:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2205697/?ref_=nv_sr_1

The title makes it sound utter st but actually, in the same vein as 'Crazy Stupid Love', it was actually quite good. I would describe it more as a 'nice little indie film' - not surprising given the writer also did Little Miss Sunshine.

I like Greg Kinnear, the two adolescent actors were unknown to me and good, and Jennifer Connelly is still hot.

sext tape - 3/10 promo looked ok, it wasn't, it froze an hour into it and I didn't bother loading it again to watch it as it was pretty pants.

It's been a long time since Cameron Diaz has done anything decent.

Catching up with some old films at the moment and enjoyed city of god and headhunters.
Both worth a watch.
You have just reminded me that I bought Headhunters on Bluray when it came out and I still have not watched it. Its still in its wrapper somewhere.

That is one of my favourite films along with Fisher King.

Sex tape is a very bad film.
