Not your usual revenge film but all the better for it, definitely worth a watch.

https://hola.org/ is supposed to be good for this (I use http://www.unblock-us.com/ but it's a paid service).

Lucy
Better than the trailer.
Do NOT waste time or money watching this film!Better than the trailer.
No depth of character in any of them, utterly confused film that doesn't know if it's sci-fi, action, comedy or just a crock of st. I'm going with the latter.
A really good concept that's executed terribly. Watch porn for better story lines.
The "10%" theory was debunked years ago. So I immediately filed the film under "junk science" and didn't bother any further.
It's Besson at his ludicrous, stupid best. Just plan simple fun. And when Lucy touched Lucy? Sublime.
It's just a big, dumb, brain-out lump of French sci-fi and the world needs more of that (even if it was, presumably, pandering to Eastern financing).
So what if the whole premise is non-sensical, just go with it.
The only negative for me was the 90% CGI car chase. First, that it was shoe-horned into the film (it is a Besson film, after all). Second, because it was just a rehash of what Besson's done many times before. Third, because most of it was CGI and poorly-done CGI at that.

Disappointed with Guardians of the Galaxy, not a fan of superhero films but thought I might enjoy it with everyone raving about it. First half was ok, except for the miraculous physics-defying escapes, but with the good guys seemingly incapable of dying the remainder became tedious. Although the visuals are amazing it was like Star Wars without Han Solo, meets Masters of the Universe; fun if you are 12 otherwise a bit naff.
I watched it at the cinema and half enjoyed it, watched it again recently and thought it was a bit flat and soulless.I think you need to be 12.
As Above, So Below - found footage horror film of a group of people who descend into the Paris catacombs, which goes about as well as you'd expect. The real star of the show are the catacombs themselves (all filmed on location) with their walls of skulls and complete darkness that is far creepier than when the actual supernatural stuff starts happening. Unlikely to appeal to any non horror fans but I did like the twist at the end, which was there wasn't one, several of them got out in one piece. These days twists are so commonplace it's far more of a surprise not to have one
Homefront. With Jason Stratham - I thought it was pretty gripping, could have done with a little more character development seemed like just too many actors for a short film. Gets the heart racing mainly from the character's fustration of dealing with small-town (and mind) mentality. Predictable for the genre, but still worth a watch if you like drama/action films. Square-on 7/10.
Did a few this weekend.
St Vincent - Bill Murray : A young boy whose parents have just divorced finds an unlikely friend and mentor in the misanthropic, bawdy, hedonistic war veteran who lives next door. I agree with IMDB's 7.4, really enjoyed it, reminded me of Little Miss Sunshine.
This is Where I Leave You : When their father passes away, four grown siblings are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof together for a week, along with their over-sharing mother and an assortment of spouses, exes and might-have-beens.
This was OK, a couple of funny moments but nothing to really write home about, enjoyable though. IMDB seems a bit high with this one at 6.7 I'd probably go with 5.7.
I also watched U-571. I'm a big fan of submarine films and this one does not let you down.

isn't that the one where the Yanks got their hands on an Enigma machine thereby winning WWII... ignoring the fact that we already had one, caused questions in the HoC and was generally thought to be historically speaking bks?Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
