I also watched U-571. I'm a big fan of submarine films and this one does not let you down.
isn't that the one where the Yanks got their hands on an Enigma machine thereby winning WWII... ignoring the fact that we already had one, caused questions in the HoC and was generally thought to be historically speaking bks?
It was HMS Bulldog that captured the machine... before the Yanks entered the war. U-571 is just a big fking lie.

I never said it was historically correct. Just that I like it as a film.

Right, SWMBO is out tonight (my turn next week) and I'm in babysitting for the night. I fancy catching up on a few non-SWMBO movies, action/scifi movies i have missed in the last 2 years, I reckon I've time for two

Captain America double bill? I haven't seen the second one yet.

I've also got rush, Lucy, the Lego movie and guardians of the Galaxy (better to get the blue Ray?!) on "the computer" having recently watched Godzilla, Pacific rim and xmen on there.

Anymore suggestions? Are the White house has fallen movies any good for a bit of brain out action?

Guardians I'd wait for the b/r. Cap2 is a fantastic film and not really that super-heroey.

Pacific Rim is a brain out movie with some cracking effects..

have you thought about The Expendables?

Wifes out?

I'd go with the classics.

Debbie Does Dallas

The Decameron (part 2)

I've not seen White House Down, but have seen Olympus has Fallen, which I understand to be pretty much the same story. I enjoyed it, it's a proper brain out Die Hard style action movie so if you enjoy that kind of thing, which I do, and don't approach it expecting some deep and meaningful story, then I reckon you'll enjoy it.

Finally managed to watch the director's cut of Das Boot last night.

I have watched various versions for years and I think the film gets better each time.

9/10.

Das Boot it is not.... in fact it's very average, [i]just[/] worth cineam admission...just...
Jude Law is a down on his luck Scottish divorced dad, recently sacked, but even more recently offered the chance for big bucks thanks to a forgotten Nazi sub with gold on it. Funded and crewed....off they go to go get it.
Not that simple though. Obvious tense, claustraphobic drama ensues....5.9/10

Watched fury yesterday.

Brutally realistic portrayal of the last days of WW2. some pretty graphic stuff in there. Good performances all round I thought. I know Shia Lebouef has a reputation for being a bit crap, but having not seen any of his other films, I thought he was pretty good in this.
Final battle seemed to turn into an action shoot 'em up as the germans went into derp mode, but then real history is full of officers who got their men killed by being stupid and there are stories of things like that really happening in the war, so maybe not as far fetched as it looked...

good film 7/10

Cheap Thrills.
This was surprisingly good! Darkly entertaining thriller. One of those low budget movies but definitely worth a watch. 7/10

From Dusk Till Dawn. A totally bipolar film yet most entertaining. Although I do wonder about my sexuality after watching Salma Hayek dance. confusedhehe

Err ..no it isn't. Great performance by Benedict Cumberbatch but apparently aimed at people with ten minute attention spans . Film has oh so predictable scenes to make us feel good about our enlightened attitude to clever women (we just knew that Keira Knightley was going to be good at big sums unlike those horrid men)and gay people (we are fine about it - they weren't ). Dialogue awful and packed full of terms that simply were not used then .A really really dumbed down film which apparently is getting huge audiences.

Blood and Bone - "In Los Angeles, an ex-con takes the underground fighting world by storm in his quest to fulfill a promise to a dead friend." An entertaining enough, violent flick though likely nothing you've not seen before 55%

Think you may have got your films mixed up.

Watched Stonehearth Asylum. Story about mental patients running the asylum, pretty good performances from Ben Kingsley, Michael Cain and Kate Bekinsale.

Yep, my 3 & 5 yr old thrive on a bit of mild peril.
My 3 & 5 yo cousins saw Maleficent - it knocked Frozen off the perch as their favorite movie. Guess todays helicopter parents have difficulty coping, rather than the actual kids.

Went for the Captain America double and enjoyed it, forgotton how good the first one was.

Got bored last night and got Guardians off TiVo and quite enjoyed it too. Forgot the missus has an intense dislike for talking animals so rocket was a bit of an issue!

Not bad though although not completely blown away. I'm all up to date on my Marvel now!
