Horrible Bosses 2

wanted to be good but was a bit empty, not much goes on and no where near good as the first, but still worth a watch on dvd.

Enjoyed Nightcrawler but a little bit left field, I watched flawless from 2007 with Michael Caine, not too bad 6/10

The Hunt is definitely one of the best films of recent years. Mikkelsen is absolutely superb.
I watched this based on this thread. It's not great IMO but it's not bad either. Mikkelsen is very good and it demonstates vividly how things can escalate out of control, one would imagine. Worth a look. 7/10

Just re-watched The 5th Element - this film came close to being totally ruined by Chris Tucker but just about manages to hold on to be a very enjoyable film
It's one of those films where the first half is great and then it just goes to st (Blade Runner is another).
It's actually one of my favourite films. paperbag

Just watched Margin Call (for the fifth time). No sex, no drugs, no violence... not even a car chase.

Almost faultless. 9.5/10
I absolutely loved that too and I cannot believe how few people have seen it. It should be one of those films that is so good that everyone has seen it.
However, with IMDB showing a 7/10 average there must be some idiots somewhere who don't actually love it.
Bewildering.

'All the President's men' only get's 8 on IMDB, so it's no surprise - they both have a similar feel ... no sex, violence, or space ships! wink

Serious question (not a pop).

That film came out in 2011. How do you watch a film 5 times in (at most) 3 years?

With only 1 (maybe 2) exceptions I can't watch the same film twice in 10 years. I literally have forget the films conclusion in order to sit through it again and that in turn kinda tells me not to bother as all of the good films are 'memorable' and leave a lasting impression.

I know a lot of people do this sort of thing, hell some people go the cinema multiple times to see a film when it first comes out but once I've seen it well, I've seen it and the fore-knowing whats going to happen prevents me from rewatching it.

In a way I envy you if you can get the same from it the 2nd time as you got the first time.

Watched 'The Theory of Everything' - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2980516

I thought it was absolutely wonderful, enchanting from the start.

It's more about the man and his life rather than the science but I think that made for a more accessible film.

8/10

It's part of my job. But it's one of the best bits. I watched it once with the screen turned off (so just had the sound). smile

Do you ever listen to a music CD more than once? I bet you do.... so you understand that 'more than once' has some benefit.

Out of interest, Breaking Bad (the whole lot) is much better second time round IMHO.

An average film I may only see the once, but there are those I love that I've seen 100's of times as I enjoy the story, doesn't have to be a surprise to enjoy it. Apollo 13 for example, I was familiar with the story before I'd seen it as it's based on an actual event. I'm fairly word-perfect on it now but can still watch it.

wavey

I thought it was gash, along with Locke.

Love Blade Runner though, watched it a couple of weeks ago I hadn't seen it for years and was worried in case it was one of those films that ages really badly. Thankfully it was every bit as good as I remembered, no doubt nostalgia playing a slight part. Solid 10/10

I'd recommend watching Lawless if you haven't already. A good depiction of a tough and gritty life but with plenty of honesty and warmth in it too.
Yes. I really enjoyed this - best film I've seen in a while.
Good soundtrack too.

Silverado

I love westerns, mostly Clint Eastwood ones but over the years some enduring classics from others have popped out like The Shootist, and Open Range. One of my favourites shouldn't really work as it's basically a cliche of every other Western storyline joined together, but Silverado *does* work thanks to the stellar cast (so many super stars in this film), excellent photography, and general feel-good nature of the film.

It's about as perfect a film as you can get to me 10/10.

One of my favourite Westerns. Great film.

Fury.

Really enjoyed it. Yes it had a few war film cliches but just stayed on the good side of not too many.

A few annoying bits ( won't go into spoilers) and one guys journey evolves too quickly but I guess that's what they tried to get across.

Anyway 8/10

Guardians of the Galaxy - A little slow to start but it's an ensemble piece with lots of background to fill in so I can understand that. Once what plot there was kicked in the interplay really worked and it looked like they were having fun. Some nice comedy moments, cool spaceships and weapons and it looked and sounded terrific on Blu-ray. Even my wife enjoyed it and she's not a comic/sci-fi fan.
Good explody fun. 8.5/10
