Deception. (Also known as "The Best Offer" as there seems to be many films called Deception).
I can't tell you much about it as I don't want to give it away, but it was very good!

Strangely it appeared to be an Italian film, mostly filmed in Italy, by an Italian producer, but with some well known UK actors in it.
Plus Donald Sutherland.

8.5/10

We enjoyed that last Sunday afternoon - beautiful to look at and engaging script, if a tad predictable.

Selma- 10/10. Shockingly good and David Oyelowo is superb
yes

Clearly had an effect too as the entire auditorium sat in silence throughout the whole of the credits. I have never seen that happen before.

The mist – 8.5/10 Stephen King novel come film about creatures in the mist that descends down on a local town as the occupants take refuge inside. A decent tense horror, with a sublime ending.

Misery – 9/10 again Stephen King flick, an author has a bad car crash and is found by his “biggest fan”. She takes him home to nurse him to health, turning out to be a right scary bh that wants to keep him hostage.

Evolution – 8/10 directed by the chap who done Ghostbusters, David Duchovny, dan aykroyd etc find a crashed meteorite that contains life from another planet. Imagine Ghostbusters but with aliens. Really good film that I hadn’t watched In years.

Horrible bosses 2 3/10 Total ste, and I mean it. The first one wasn’t bad but this was just fking awful. I gave it 3 and only because of jennifer aniston is filthy in it.

I read that Evolution was intended to be the script for GB3, however they couldn't get the original cast to all sign up to it so it was abandoned. They reworked the script where it evolved into Evolution.

Agreed it's a good film too.

7.5/10

Interesting fact about Selma: Steven Spielberg owns the rights to MLK's original speeches, so all the speeches in the film were written in his style especially for the film.

yes I'd heard that before I saw it (and hello to Jason Isaacs wink ) but even knowing that didn't diminish the film in any way, the "new" speeches are so well written (and Oyelowo's performance so utterly brilliant) you remain completely enthralled by them.

It was undoubtedly well acted but, as with most films of historic events, it was mostly lacking in tension if you already knew the history. Sadly, it felt like I'd already seen this film before. 7/10 for entertainment, 9/10 for the acting.

Trance - James McAvoy gets caught up in an art theft and a little bit of hypnosis. Ridiculous but mildly entertaining. 5/10

I watched this over the weekend and thought it was great. It's a silly film and not to be taken seriously but it did make me laugh. Better than the first I think.

Dammit I'm gonna have to watch it now.
In that case ensure you watch "We are the Millers". Funny and scantily clad Jennifer.

Road, a documentary about the Dunlop racing dynasty. Simply brilliant
Watched that last weekend too. Great documentary and absolutely spellbinding and downright scary what here road racers can do. Left me with the terrible feeling though that perhaps more tragedy for that family isn't too far away frown

Saw The Theory of Everything, really enjoyable and more uplifting than I had expected. Superb performances by the leads.

Unbroken

Non star cast and directed by Angela Jolie , the film built on its strength and is certainly worth viewing if you feel you've had a bad day . Didn't realize it was based on a true story until the final credits and youngest son relating how he'd read the book a few years ago in school.

9/10

Birdman

I really enjoyed the interplay between the main characters, was quite funny at times and made commentary on how getting old is st. I also lived the jazz percussion incidental music... My wife fell asleep.

7.2/10

Predestination

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "go fk yourself". Not brilliant but not too bad either.... My wife fell asleep.

6.2/10
