Road, a documentary about the Dunlop racing dynasty. Simply brilliant
Watched that last weekend too. Great documentary and absolutely spellbinding and downright scary what here road racers can do. Left me with the terrible feeling though that perhaps more tragedy for that family isn't too far away frown

Saw The Theory of Everything, really enjoyable and more uplifting than I had expected. Superb performances by the leads.

Gravity. Well, it was okay. I wouldn't want to watch this film again. Good special effects, though.

Unbroken

Non star cast and directed by Angela Jolie , the film built on its strength and is certainly worth viewing if you feel you've had a bad day . Didn't realize it was based on a true story until the final credits and youngest son relating how he'd read the book a few years ago in school.

9/10
Non star? I guess it depends on your definition, but Jack O'Connell has been in a fair few films

Of note Starred Up is well worth a watch, grim, but good.

Unbroken was his big time breakthrough though, leading man in a Hollywood movie - was he convincing as an American GI / hero?

I liked Starred Up a lot but he just played the same gobby lad with attitude as he was in Skins (and an exaggeration of how he seems in real life). Want to see '71 as that is also supposed to be good but suspect he might act similarly.

He is indeed the Danny Dyer of Stoke.

I am sure he will also have a good ten years playing the same character - a slightly louder version of himself and then join a soap when even the made for DVD films dry up.

I thought it was quite refreshing to show an American as being quite 'normal' rather than a gung-ho action man figure, if anything, the brutality of the Japanese was played down.

'71 is pretty good, he plays a less gobby, and quite naive character in it. Imagine someone having a really, really bad day at work, but your work is patrolling the streets of Belfast at the height of the troubles.

I quite liked The Liability as well with Tim Roth as his co-star.

Derby, the Danny Dyer of Derby.

I'm kicking myself.

That sounds so much better. smile

The Final Countdown - 80's sci-fi at best. Didn't expect it to be any good though. Nice way to spent some time 7/10

'Water'.

I do love that film. It's a wee bit amateurish in parts, but so many genuine laugh out loud moments. Great stuff.

Watched John Wick last night.

We really enjoyed it - total Ronseal film and it delivered.

Great fight scenes and some very funny bits. I've always like KR when he does this sort of stuff.
I don't think it's like a Jason Statham film, the violence is far more 'earthy'.
I saw it last night too and agree. As a huge fan of reeves it was good to see him finally show some emotion. A deeply stlyised b movie. 7/10

Today seems like an 80s classics day on Channel 5:

Walk of Shame - a far better film than I expected to be honest (whilst a sort of reverse pretty woman fish out of water scenario) and over-all worth a watch with SWMBO... 60%

Mr Brooks - On Netflix with Kevin Costner. Not a great fan of Kevin but this was a very good film 8/10.

O/T perhaps - with Costner, I've heard a few people say they're not particularly fans. Apart from the washout (SWIDT...) that was Waterworld, what else has he done that people dislike?

Good fun and some great shots of aircraft carrier ops.

The thinking man's Top Gun.
