Also sounds a bit like Doc Hollywood when a small town tries to make a doctor stay.
Doc Hollywood is a great film. Then again, I loved The Secret of my Success. Must have been an age thing.

The Intouchables - one of the best films I've ever seen. Pretty much perfect in every way.

Interstellar - I enjoyed it, for the most part. Slow pace (2 hrs 50 min!) means it drags in places, tbh space travel can be a bit boring, but it does add to the atmosphere. Just about the right mix of space semi-realism and storytelling drama for me; love the black hole concept, beautiful visuals, thought provoking plot, cool robots, and Anne Hathaway is lovely. Cooper's lack of training and the tesseract bookcase jarred slightly, and I know what signal I would be sending if I was one of the Lazarus missions; but I'll enjoy watching it again.

Contact is still my favourite space sci-fi, this didn't quite grab me in the same way.
I thought this missed totally, no one behaved in a way that was convincing. Did look pretty though.

Agreed that Contact is much better.

Watched Enigma last night.
Bit complicated but beautifully shot and one of the VERY best of John Barry's scores.
The music is sublime. Evidently the lead actor was a contender for Bond after Pierce Brosnan ?

JAWS - 10/10 A classic that I wouldn't change anything about, the perfect movie, full of classic lines and scenes. A bit dated looking but its over 30 years old.

Night at the museum 2 - 8/10 Really enjoyed this, great to see Robin Williams as well.

From the clips I have watched it looks like it would be entertaining

Same location different theme
I watched "Good Vibrations" the other night
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1920945/
I really enjoyed it
Based on real life events
I thought 71 was quite poor, I suppose being from Belfast didn't help.

Good Vibrations was excellent, soundtrack of my youth etc. smile

He was indeed, and in my opinion, Dougray Scott would have made a better Bond than Daniel Craig.

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel.

Watched it a fair few times before and its always a joy. Laugh out loud funny in places, lots of geeky nods to other SciFi (Sorry Ray, Science Fiction wink) films, and just an all round great film for a low budget British production. Highly recommended smile

ETA quote -

Pete: So what do we do now Ray?
Ray: What?
Pete: This is your thing...!
Ray: This is not my thing! No my thing is sitting on my arse reading books about this st, not actually being in it!
Pete: What about the rules..? I mean there's always rules in these things isn't there?
Ray: Well yeah, but I mean.. it depends who you read.
Toby: Well even I know some rules
Ray: Like what?
Toby: Like.. you can't tread on any butterflies
Pete: What?
Toby: Not just butterflies, anything. You can't kill anything in the past because it wipes out all it's descendants in the future and you could end up wiping out the whole human race!
Ray: Uh... Don't sleep with anyone, it always ends up being your mum or your gran or..
Pete: That's just sick
Toby: Ray, it's still tonight we haven't gone back to the Blitz!
Ray: You asked for rules I'm giving you rules
Pete: OK, don't kill anything, don't fk anything... what else?
Ray: Don't touch yourself....

I finally got around to watching the grand Budapest hotel..... highly enjoyable and a brilliant story line that's beautifully told. I was disappointed when it ended.

Superb and I'm glad I watched it.

Dougray Scott played a baddie in one of the Strike Back stories - he was superbly menacing.

He would have been very good at conveying Bond's darker side.

Been meaning to ask, what did you make of Fury?
I enjoyed it on the whole, but it's not one I could watch more than a few times, like for example, Saving Private Ryan.

Whilst Enigma can appear to be complex it's a surprisingly simple story.
But for a mainstream film I think the depiction by Dougray Scott of a man recovering from a breakdown is superb. He looks and acts haunted and wrecked throughout the film. I saw this on TV a few years ago but bought the DVD A bit back. His performance is one of the best I've watched in a long time.
