Wall-e - 10/10
This was on the BBC (again) at the weekend, for me, Toy Story aside, the only western animation that is comfortably on a par with the best Studio Ghibli output.
I could watch the first 45 minutes or so on earth over and over again, the spaceship section is growing on me but I just love the near-silent stuff on earth.
Top film - the level of detail in the animation when you watch it on a big HD telly from a bluray is wonderful. This was on the BBC (again) at the weekend, for me, Toy Story aside, the only western animation that is comfortably on a par with the best Studio Ghibli output.

watched Kingsman yesterday whilst awaiting the vote results, bonkers, outlandish, fun, naughty, camp and two hours of nonesense.
I enjoyed it alot apart from SLJ the lisp kinda took me out of the film a bit and was more annoying than amusing characature.
the fireworks at the end, well, it was OTT and even given the slight slapstick nature of the film, showing that many real exploding heads would probably have been too much....
I thought the church scene was awesome though...go mr. firth!
PS was anyone on accent watch with Mark Strong? in the first ten minutes I couldn't work out what part of teh world he was from 8/10

Over the last week or so -
And also saw - Fast & Furious 7 I believe we need a mediocre film thread. I wanted to really enjoy this film, but the more I think about it, the more I realise it is just an OK film, given the extra hype over the loss of Paul Walker (tho the end tribute to him was touching). The film as a whole was just meh.
Maybe its because its become just another action film now more than a driving/racing based action film.
The Statham/Tony Jaa/Dwayne Johnson fight scenes were well choreographed and I enjoyed these parts.
But the rest of it was again, just meh.
It's a very broken film, I suspect Walker had filmed far less than was suggested. I've generally enjoyed all of these films but it's time to put the franchise to bed.And also saw - Fast & Furious 7 I believe we need a mediocre film thread. Great soundtrack and some of the food looked bloody amazing, especially that smoked brisket, I bet that was out of this world.
Really good film.

Written, directed, produced and acted in by John Favreau, didn't realise what a talent he was.

'03 Big Fish, a Tim Burton's film. Couldn't help but shed a tear - it's a complete portrayal of my father. Irresponsible tumbleweed with a great glowing heart. Hated McGregor's texan accent though. 9/10
Love this film - whimsical wonderment at its best.Edited by anonymous-user on Sunday 10th May 18:45

The Mule
8/10
'It's 1983. A naive man with lethal narcotics hidden in his stomach is detained by Australian Federal Police. Alone and afraid, 'the Mule' makes a desperate choice; to defy his bodily functions and withhold the evidence...literally. And by doing so becomes a "human time-bomb," dragging cops, criminals, lawyers and his mother into his impossible escapade. Inspired by true events.' rotton t.
