Watched Kingsman on Thursday, thought it was OK. Not as funny as some had made out, bringing the slight OTT traditional James Bond style into the "Yeah bruv" age. I imagine if you like the older, slightly silly James Bond type films you'll enjoy this more than me - 6/10.

Watched Whiplash last night - I thought it was brilliant. The teaching style and methods definitely divided opinions amongst my housemates! I also really like how they left the love interest. Superb ending, easily 9/10.

Watched Ex_Machina again, because in the last few weeks it made me think more than I wanted to. Pretty old idea - remember Jurassic park? "God kills dinosaurs, humans kill god, humans create dinosaurs, dinosaurs kill humans". And before that in the bibile, and before the bible in Sumerian mythos. And how beautiful is it? I also think the cast was good, even though I didn't like the girl's acting. Oscar Isaac, to me, is one of the most professional actors nowadays. And it's full of hints and nice touches. Changed my mind - 8.5/10, just because the ending isn't sensible enough.

Marvellous. The true story of Neil Baldwin who looks at life slightly differently.
Very funny and heart warming.

Toby Jones stars.

8/10 on IMDb. If anything I'd give it a higher score.
lovely warm film, 9/10
Cheers Chaps, on your comments we downloaded and watched this earlier.

Brilliant film. Leaves a great big smile on your face at the end.

Many thanks.

Or Westworld, both by Crighton.

I love Fletch, every time I watch it, it brings a smile to my face. I bought the DVD a few year's back, and it is one of the most watched.
Yeah, one of the classics. THere is a trailer for something called Sunstrip which reminded me of it.
I tried watching Fletch but since it was the horrible telly version I deleted it.

Another one her for Big Hero 6.

Had not the faintest idea what it was, wife wanted to buy for the kids. As per usual rule, I try and get in 3D plus Blu-ray to use with my Panasonic VT65 (my precious!!!)

Kids had it on, did not pay much attention as doing other things. Wife said I would really like it.

So (as with kids) it goes on again so sit down to watch with them.

Absolutely brilliant - my little boy loves it and both of them dance to the end music. Tried it last night with 3D...oh yeah :-)

That and Wreck It Ralph are just great.

Fist bump...ba la la la la *will make sense when you see it*

Finally got round to watching The Conjuring - that was one seriously creepy film that doesn't rely on cheap jump scares but actual tension. Feels like something could happen at any moment, and the fact it doesn't always just makes in scarier.

In completely unrelated news, in these summer months I don't think the lights in my bedroom are getting enough use. Might just leave them on tonight..........

Kingsman

Loved it.

Great story, fantastic mainly British cast with stylish characters and a really slick looking film to go with it. A proper action flick with some gratuitous but hilarious violence. Normally there's something that I can find fault with or a scene that lets a film down but it just didn't seem to do anything wrong, it delivered throughout and kept a perfectly constant pace.

9/10

Probably a bit more than just THIS weekend but:

Kingsman 9/10 quality entertainment

Chef 8/10 raided the fridge afterwards

Tim's Vermeer 9/10 wow... simply stunning

Ex Machina 6/10 waited and waited and waited... in vain

Leviathan 8,5/10 just make sure there's 4-5 litres of vodka in your freezer

The Armstrong Lie 8/10 Lance convincing as usual

Escobar- Paradise Lost 4/10 textbook example "have all the right ingredients at hand, then go and fk it up big time"- what a waste

Narco Cultura 8/10 oh dear, poor Mexico...

Real quick one line reviews...

Yesterday evening:
Mad Max
I like old films but this has aged horribly, it did pick up towards the end - not for me though! 6/10

Max Max 2: The Road Warrior
Absolutely bloody brilliant, its aged better than the first and I love the setting and art style, would watch again! 8/10

Max Max: Beyond Thunderdome
Had some good bits in it and was an enjoyable watch, if a little silly at times. Didn't live up to #2 IMO. 7/10

Today
Mad Max: Fury Road
WOW. A film with basically zero plot and zero character development doesn't interest me at all but Fury Road is just that, yet I loved it. It was brilliantly made with some of the best cinematography I've seen in a LONG time - the action for the most part was very good and the art direction and costume design was stellar. It was almost as if you could smell the petrol burn during the explosions. Really enjoyed it and will see it again! 9/10

So I'm pretty high on Mad Max at the moment, despite only seeing it for the first time at 8pm last night! biggrin
Might watch The Book of Eli later - another post apocalyptic film... Then I might play some Fallout 3! #NuclearWasteland

The Wedding Ringer - formulaic comedy (if you like Jump Street etc you should like this) with some very funny moments. The ending is telegraphed but non-the-less a fun watch 65%

The Hobbit: 3 - excellent in places, quite poor in others over-all though I enjoyed it

Of all the Mad Max films for me, the Road Warrior is the only one I would watch again, and is probably why it's looked back on with nostalgia by a lot of people.

Chappie
Enjoyed this one a lot, as someone said above, better than elysium, not as good as district 9. 8/10

Watched Danny Boyles "Trance" last night, never heard of it but I found it clever and entertaining from start to finish. It helped when the female lead Rosario Dawson got all her kit off after hearing her shave, including close ups of what she shaved wink

Good film with a twist at the end.
