'Rush' - the James Hunt / Niki Lauda film.

Nobody wants to see F1 drivers dying at the rate they used to, but it cannot be denied that F1 was a lot edgier and seemed more exciting in those days.

Rush instantly was up there with my favourite films the moment I first saw it.
Subwoofer open helps as well!

Whiplash - from a mention earlier in the year on this thread I watched it tonight. Very enjoyable I thought and I am no jazz beard; in fact I don't think you need to be. The two main characters are very good, especially the conductor. Had a couple of unpredictable moments, especially towards the end which I liked. 7.5/10

Jurassic World get what you pay for. Slow slightly irritating build up in the first act, setting out the stall.... Then BAM second act starts off and gets more and more intense and then DOUBLE BAM third act is a treat..... Then smaller than expected slice of Hollywood cheese. Characters were ok..acting was ok....Story was ok... Visuals were great.. But it's more than the some of its parts with all the nods to it's ancestors. Solid 7.2/10

'Rudderless' - good film about a father who reconnects with his son's music after he dies, learns it and then starts to play it live.

Billy Crudup is excellent as is the rest of the cast.

Music isn't bad either.

A solid 7.5/10 for me.

how the fk can it be a solid 7.2

I meant 7.5 ok, or even 72%, but 7.2, your scoring system is st man. full of half units, its doing my head in seeing people review it like that, like there is some sort of checklist to achieve this score.

You really are annoyed that he used 7.2 instead 72%? You have issues.

I'm not actually annoyed, this is the internet, dramatisation makes it more interesting.

I thought the same, a solid 7, meaning it merited the full 7 and wasn't a 6.8 rounded up, makes sense, a solid 7.2 suggests there is a degree of precision that distinguishes a 7.15 from a 7.2 enough that you have to qualify a 7.2 with the 'solid' adjective is fanciful.

I see his point, 7.2 out of what? 13.4?

Solid? as opposed to fluid or gaseous.

Utterly retarded scoring, he should have given it a gelatinous bacon-flavoured off-beige 110.88/15.4 wink

I did actually put "a solid 7.2/10" for those of you can't read....
I wasn't going to waver and put 7.1 or 7.3 no...it's a 7.2 for me and I am unanimous in that. Solid in fact, what's more I shall be watching for any flimsy fanciful non-specific reports on future films from you lot now, so there.

The Drop

Crime thriller where you think Tom Hardy is a slightly 'slow' bartender who works for his cousin James Gandolfini.

As the plot reveals itself, all is not what you quite think. The bar is owned by Kosovan gangsters, and has been chosen for 'The Drop' - to be used to collate the nightly takings from the other gang related activities over the city.

There's a few side stories going on, all are interesting and add to the weave of the backstory and build up to the final act.

The Departed it is not. However, its a good solid film that I'd recommend. 7.41

Yeah this is a good movie which is a slow burn. It wasn't what I was expecting but definately worth a watch. At least an 8.304 from me.
