I did actually put "a solid 7.2/10" for those of you can't read....
I wasn't going to waver and put 7.1 or 7.3 no...it's a 7.2 for me and I am unanimous in that. Solid in fact, what's more I shall be watching for any flimsy fanciful non-specific reports on future films from you lot now, so there.
If it's slightly better than a '7' but not as much as a 7 and a half or an 8 then it's anything but solid 7.2

it's clearly therefore a solid 7 as it has a little to spare!

The Drop

Crime thriller where you think Tom Hardy is a slightly 'slow' bartender who works for his cousin James Gandolfini.

As the plot reveals itself, all is not what you quite think. The bar is owned by Kosovan gangsters, and has been chosen for 'The Drop' - to be used to collate the nightly takings from the other gang related activities over the city.

There's a few side stories going on, all are interesting and add to the weave of the backstory and build up to the final act.

The Departed it is not. However, its a good solid film that I'd recommend. 7.41
Yeah this is a good movie which is a slow burn. It wasn't what I was expecting but definately worth a watch. At least an 8.304 from me.
I enjoyed it but I wouldn't give it more than a 7.392

no my measure is just more specific than yours, so it's a solid 70% in your book and solid 72% in mine.
... you clearly waver and wonder about the meaning of 2%

I don't hehewink

a film would score an additional .2 if it featured a bit of tasteful side-boob.

Big Hero 6

Really enjoyed this one, not my favourite animated film, but easily up there with Wall-E, Shrek and much funnier than The Incredibles.

π^2/10.

how the fk can it be a solid 7.2

I meant 7.5 ok, or even 72%, but 7.2, your scoring system is st man. full of half units, its doing my head in seeing people review it like that, like there is some sort of checklist to achieve this score.
You really are annoyed that he used 7.2 instead 72%? You have issues.
I'm not actually annoyed, this is the internet, dramatisation makes it more interesting.
MTB sod off back to biker banter where your king smile

Just kidding

I'm surprised in this day and age people actually care what others on here score a film!!!

Frankly I don't give a toss and their ratings are purely 'their' opinion which to me means fkall as I'll watch a film if I want too not matter what someone thinks of it.

Better not wear my pink le cock t shirt tonight as someone else didn't rate them highly enough wink

Seriously though, after studying film at uni it makes me very critical to I tend to be a conservative reviewer. My scores are similar to an IMDB rating in that:

6 is an average flick. Must have some plus points. Good if you want a fun film with a couple of pints.

7 must be generally a 'good' (better than average) film and have a lot of redeeming features.

8 must be a great film. No obvious bad points. Should have great acting, a tight script and have features that are potentially Oscar worthy.

9 is a truly great film. I've probably only thought of a dozen films ever to be a 9.

10. Nothing is perfect!

Additionally, I personally rate films higher if they challenge the norm. If they have a concept which is new or pushes boundaries, or is different from the classic Hollywood narrative of polar characters and three acts and especially if they've succeeded on a lower budget through clever work then that gets extra marks from me.

Watched this again recently, great classic, but just lacks a little something for me.

Really?

Se7en would actually be my definition of a 'strong' 8, pretty much perfect for what is possible and what it set out to do. Possibly even an 8.71... wink

8.44755 from me. smile

A slow burn (as stated above), but a good film good and I thought Tom Hardy (+ supporting cast) gave a good performance.

Recommended.

PS "The Judge" (Duvall/Downey Jr) which I watched afterwards was something of a disappointment.

Oh... in all seriousness.... FOCUS, with Will Smith, is a great weekend film with the other half.
Fairly predictable but entertaining.

Pretty decent action flic starrIng Dolf Oldgrun and Tony Jaa. Not much in the way of complex plot or dialogue but loads of action and fights.

Off to see Jurassic world again with the missus tonight. To be honest, although the film was okay, I'd rather see Mad Max again.

It could be worse... it could be pitch perfect 2.
