Just catching up with my AI viewing with Humans on Ch4, (which I liked, so 8/10) and Ex Machina.

Thought Ex Machina was a 6/10 at best. In fact the get to da choppa!! bit at the end, has dropped it to a 5/10.

The Water Diviner - Russel Crowe

His first outing as a director, he also stars as the lead.

I'm a big fan of his - Every film I've seen with him in has been excellent - This is still a good film but he needs to work on the directing. There were a couple of times where things looked very staged and not authentic, and there were odd choices of framing where it jarred.

Great story though.

7/10

Minions 4/10

I was rather bored with it to be honest. Some good gags but not as good as you think it's going to be. Even the kids in the cinema were a bit bored
From seeing the trailer, I thought it looked rubbish - unfortunately you have confirmed my suspicions. Even more unfortunately I will still need to take my sons to see it at the cinema...
Saw it last night with my kids, and we all absolutely loved it.

Fair enough - I didn't think it was 'bad', just not great.

School for Scoundrels - original 1960s classic British comedy with Ian Carmichael, Alistair Sim and Terry Thomas. Very amusing and worth it for the car spotting alone! smile

On iPlayer until next Saturday.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders—the most famous of which is, “Never get involved in a land war in Asia”—but only slightly less well-known is this: “Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line”! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha…

anywho back on topic... Cannonball Run. Not watched it in quite a while but it's still fun 65%

Forgot how hilarious this film is. So under rated its criminal.
Just watched it, bloody good it was too. I'd give it a solid 8/10 which might have been an 8.5 had it not been a little too long.

Waterloo - battle scenes still look incredible, well acted and beautifully shot although the dialogue is rather bizarre as they shoehorn in as many historical quotes as they can

I watched it a few months ago coincidentally after a historian was on radio talking about Napoleon. The part at the beginning where he has several scribes and people around him and he was addressing them all at different points switching from affairs of state to letter to soldiers etc etc is apparently very accurate.

I enjoy the film anyway when it's on but the historical accuracy of it really sets it apart I think knowing what little I know about the battle.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale - It's a U certificate, based on a true story and it's got a dog in it. Halfway through there was a sniffle, a couple of minutes later there was blubbing and by the end Mrs Toasty was a complete grizzling wreck. Then I got told off for being unemotional. rolleyes Still, if you like dogs you'll probably like this and it was better than Marley and Me. 6.5/10

If that's the BBC one, I didn't like it so much. I felt the presenter fawned a little too much over his beloved Boney..

A grandmother turned up with two kids in yellow facepaint and goggles, claiming that she'd been told the kids got in free if they were dressed as Minions! The bemused member of staff said she "would ask the manager" and went away with a huge grin on her face. Sadly, and inevitably, the answer was "no". Nice try though.
