Good films I watched this weekend (Vol 2)

This is one of my favourite films of all time, from the opening sequence which is as shocking as it is compelling and sets it's stall out and NOT being a Lethal Weapon style film where the baddies just fall over and die and we all cheer, the tension builds and builds towards a pretty tough ending - but other side of it is the friendship between the two main characters isn't some Hollywood cheesy nonsense, even though I'm not a Cop and I'm not American it was very relatable to me - it's basically two mates sat in a car taking the piss out of each other.

It really deserves more recognition than it gets I think.

Korean War film Bridges at Toko RI.

Interesting film not quite the war film I imagined it would be.
It is obviously what an American war film with a message about sacrifice etc has the usual aspects but it's much deeper. Really enjoyed it, didn't expect the ending, but it was obviously the point of it, they die so you have freedom etc.

Agreed - very much 'of it's time' but was a great film when I watched it as a 16 year old when it came out - the perfect demographic.

...and great use of Simple Minds at the end.

I thought it was pretty formulaic tbh. Pena's character should've been called Deadmeat, his demise was so obvious.

Have you watched the full 'Brat Pack' set then? 16 Candles, St. Elmo's Fire, Pretty in Pink, and so on. I'd include stuff like 'The Sure Thing' & 'Risky Business' for the full effect.

I'd guess so - I doubt I missed any of them at the time. Good shout for 'Risky Business' as well - I was always torn as to what I'd buy first, a Porsche or a Call Girl...

That high a score? I had to reach for FF, it was terrible, lame premise, and an even weaker story.
Personally, I would give it a 2/10.

Well...6/10 is I think the lowest score I've ever given (and perhaps generous). I think its potentially worth a watch if all 7 and above rated films don't take your fancy. The ending wasn't a particularly obvious conclusion, and it did make you think about the progression/inevitability of AI.

Also watched Mission Impossible, couldn't get the Mrs to come and don't think she missed out tbh kind of agree it's possibly one of the weakest ones - seemed too long with nothing really standing out in the film, ok action-romp but probably not worth the ticket price. -Frankly I enjoyed the ATeam a lot more.

Pitch Perfect 2 - 3/10, I actually enjoyed the first one, I dunno why I hate things like that normally but it was rather well put together even if it was totally predictable. This one was utter ste, the constant presence of "fat Amy" got right on my tits, she's fking horrible. Who actually finds her "comedy" funny.

My missus loves Pitch Perfect and i quite enjoyed it. Elizabeth Banks & John Michael Higgins are very funny. Not seen number 2 but the other half says its a bit boring and not a patch on the first one.

RB is one of my most favourite films, Rebecca De Mornay, a Porsche 928 and Tangerine Dream all in a single movie. Brilliant.

Revisiting 'Dazed and Confused' for the umpteenth time. Love that film. Whilst I didn't go to high school in 70s USA, and I was not particularly cool, it does nonetheless remind me a lot of my teenage years.

Love this quote from writer/director:

It's not a classic but it has it's moments. Typical Bay slow-mo sequences and iffy direction. The stand out is The Rock. Who knew he could actually act? A proper funny and sometimes quietly deep performance. Without him the film would have been considerably poorer.

The creepy guy in this, who also starred opposite Tom Gardy in Warrior, and in Zero Dark Thirty amongst others also wrote and directed this?!
It's pretty good too. It either builds tension slowly or is just painfully slow depending on your view, for the 1st half or more, but the story unfolds well and has you questioning who the bad guy really is and then creeps you out big style later... So I started off sleepy and ended up engrossed.
Old school friends bump into eachother and dark secrets surface from those days, whilst the wife slowly unravels in the background...
Probably a good DVD over current cinema ticke price watch, but the Meerkats made this doable. Thankyou Sergey.

finallay managed to watch spring breakers..... safe to say this was not a disney film. I am unsure about how to feel about it, basically 4 friends go to spring break and realise they're not as party hard as they thought they were, in between sex nudity and drugs. took me like a year to watch it though, kept getting distracted

I saw this expecting a fast paced action/drama film, however I found it to be slow and dull. The entire film I felt to be pretentious and too long in length.
