Just watching the 2nd part of the Camera SS Convertible build.

Anyone else thinking the deadline was contrived to a point beyond incredulity?

Not sure about the rest of the show

But when they're driving the finished SS neither were wearing seat belts.

Yet he got 'pulled' for not using indicators.

It was a 69' car wasn't it. Its pretty likely that the original car didn't come from the factory with seat belts and as such doesn't need them now in the USA.

Well that seems to be a sure fire way of having a nasty encounter with the windscreen

Ridiculous law

Plenty of people survived through the years without seatbelts (granted plenty didn't). I personally would want some retrofitted if that was my car and it was going to be used regularly I have to admit.

As for the deadline being contrived, of course it was it's all done for tv. Still a great show though, very entertaining.

Im pretty sure some old UK cars dont have seat belts and are still legal to drive.

Seriously?

I watch the show, but I find it plays up to TV too much. some of the workers irritate the fk out of me.

You misunderstand my point.

Of course I know it is contrived and done for TV. My point was that in this instance it was so blatant, ham-fisted and poorly executed.

I'm pretty sure too. Very few laws in the UK are retrospective. If a car didn't have seatbelts when it was sold new then they do not have to be retro-fitted. That applies for both front and rear seats.

Having said that, I remember as a kid that when my dad used to buy a car that didn't have seatbelts for every passenger, the first thing he would do would be to fit them.

If anybody didn't know GMG are now sponsoring a top fuel dragster team Hennen Motorsports – so not that well known (they have certainly never been mentioned in National Dragster Magazine in the past couple of years) in the US. I guess it epitomises the term Fast N' Loud.

I think the show has peaked for me, the last episode where the 2 guys he fired and his rival set up shop in his old GMG property is completely BS, no doubt they'll be challenging them to a buildoff or something soon.
I'm sad to see it going this way, it is a great show, or rather was until the producers started dicking around with it. frown

I quite like the series so far. You have to take the contrived "TV" stuff with a pinch of salt, but it's still entertaining. I hope they do a challenge thing with Tom, as I always found him fun to watch, yet knowledgeable when it came down to it. Yes, it'll be done for TV, but that's the point surely?

I enjoyed the Pikes Peak footage too. I'd love to go there myself! Did wonder just how much of AK's emotion was genuine? I'd hope all of it, as building and racing at an event like that takes commitment and not just cash. He was never going to challenge a Radical though was he?

Anyway, looking forward to the next episode.

I really enjoy the whole GMG thing, apart from the youtube clips and out-takes, but I was in the US for a few days a coulple of weeks ago and watched a few episodes of Fantomworks. Really enjoyable and realistic to the pint of going through the actual bill with the customers. Plus things take 145 days to finish, not 3.
Keep an eye out for it.

I must be missing a few episodes here. The most recent I saw was the Camaro SS Convertible (part 2).

Does Pikes Peak and "Return of the Tom" come after that?

its the next 2 episodes after the camaro one, although tom isnt back they just say him and jordan and a rival car buying guy have leased the old GMG garage that RR conveniently still rents.

Ah, ok.

Have these been screened on Discovery UK yet, or are you watching these via 'other sources'?
