Only 200ish people had watched that video when I clicked the link. Please tell, how did you find it so quickly..are you Mark??
good grief no! mind you my staff might have something to say about that.

my other half uses twitter & he posted it up after the final show, quite amusing i thought.

laura also follows alison off the show (they gave out their twitter details on that sunday brunch show-they both came across very well on that too i thought) & she has posted that she has also now left the grosvener hotel.

apparently it wasn't the same without mark & she is now working in a local shop. a great shame i'd say as she genuinely came across as someone who could actually make a good stab at running the place in the little we saw last night

I looked at the prices in the summer, for a week its £600 odd for a couple.

you could go abroad for that money, there lies the problem with the hotel.

it does seem like anyone with half a brain could have improved the hotel with little effort. But i think it has massive problems, the staff being one the bingo last night was cringeworthy.

it looked like a st hole, the balconies were fked with green tiles everywhere you looked something was broken or faulty. It makes me wonder when the guests came in and went wow, just what kinda st hole do they live in.

It did however look really family friendly thanks to Mark and I could see why alot would stay just because of that.

I wonder whether it was that much during Mark's tenure? It did seem to me that most of the guests were in the "low expectation" category that probably weren't paying much for the room.

Maybe the new guy has upped the quality and upped the prices.

I looked at it last year for a laugh and it was very close to that figure.

The O/H loves the programme but for us it would be £200 on fuel easily, plus £600 for digs, then food and drink on top of that for a week in Torquay. No thanks, we just went to the canaries.

I’m sure family’s love it though, I have great memories going to Cornwall every year when I was younger and that probably cost the same as going abroad.

Have just watched it - though expected, it just seemed a tad sad.

It did occur to me that he should have done that years ago and that she was a far better (from what we saw) gm than Mark. Would then have freed Mark up to do the stuff that he did better....

I would suspect that the first thing the new owner would do is parachute one of his other GM's straight into the hotel.

Typical of the cost of holidaying in the UK.

2009 we stayed in the Whitby area. B&B in someones house was £115 per night.

Great programme and it's a shame the way it ended but others have said, it needed a lot doing to it and he should've stepped aside earlier.

I am sure I read somewhere (possibly here) that he is back at the Hotel employed as a host or some such.
I felt sorry for him, for all his faults he genuinely cared and worked hard, just a pity he was surrounded by everyone else who appeared on the make.
Bar staff knocking back pints, chefs stuffing their faces in the kitchen, Christian who was pocketing the proceeds from the sale of tickets, hardly surprising they didn't make any money.

Though technically Series Two, given that the original series was set in a hotel in the Lake District!

It was "OK". However, the hotel certainly didn't have the same set of characters as the Grosvenor. The manager was a little strange (lived in a caravan at the bottom of the garden). Still worth a watch though!

Some colleagues of mine have had their Christmas do at the Damson Deene (series 1) for many years now - they've no idea why it featured in The Hotel as it was an excellent hotel - nowhere near the Grosvenorlevels of comedy

I think they probably put it on because of that strange gay bloke living in the caravan.

I'm just watching the Indian night episode now. Bed bugs!

I watched the season finale and the penultimate episode last night. That Christian was a right little turd, always on the make, skiving as much as possible and generally doing his best to avoid fulfilling his role as an events manager. It was like he didn't realise, or care, that he was supposed to be generating income, he was just pissing money up the wall. When he wasn't disappearing from work, sitting on facebook or having crisis with another one of his "boyfriends", he was just sauntering around the hotel, and for all the effort he put in he might as well have been burning £20 notes.

Mark was a trooper to the end though, and I'm glad he finall got rid of Christian, because that snake was about to get the sack when he resigned.

"I'm leaving, I'll work my month's notice!"
"You can work a week."
"Fine."

And then Mark paid him to not come in. He was that much of a turd.

Just found this from last year.

Bit sad considering how it all turned out.
