I was looking for a thread earlier. It amazes me that they have any guests at all. I think most of the staff are in the wrong industry.

Yep, they brought in someone to look at what they are doing wrong and don't care what he says. I'd get shut of Christian straight away as he is a st stirrer.

I think this is it in its 3rd season now, obviously a hit programme. Interestingly if you look on tripadvisor its scores 4 out of 5. I seem to remember someone telling me that the "owner" sold the hotel recently but he was kept on as the manager as he himself was a huge asset, certainly a huge character.

Easy watching and very funny at times.

Big spoiler for what happens AFTER the series this year...

It went into administration. September 2012, just after filming stopped, it went up for sale and then was bought by a local millionaire in October I think it was.

agree and agree.

His "it's too little too late" spoke volumes. What..."too late"? So it's all over? So there's nothing that can be done?!

No no, quite the opposite.

What happened to his Bentley?

He sold the one he owned previously when he got divorced but then got another one in the last series but there's no sign of it anymore.

It's like watching a car crash in slow motion.

I started watching it and then thought - this can't be real (the camera angles etc seemed too perfect). Looked it up as a comedy doc.

Everything just seemed too setup. Cringeworthy in bits.

Are you telling me it was for real ?

If the bloke had put his trousers back on and taken control of his "out of control" staff he may have stood a chance. I was lobbing things at the tele in frustration. And as for that Christian bloke, he needs to fk off back it cockoo land.

Sadly, yes. They have several rooms set up with static cameras . you'll notice they never move.

That's not my understanding of it. After buying the Grosvenor he went on to buy another 2 local hotels and it was those 2 that he placed is a separate LLP, and it was this that went into administration

Incidentally The Grosvenor is ranked on TA as 64th out of 103 hotels in Torquay.... I think that tells you everything you need to know about the 38 that sit below it....
