Well, SWMBO and #1 daughter rather like Silent Witnes. I can take it or leave it but have just sat through the first in the new series.

My word, possibly the most boring and dullest hour of television I have seen on BBC for I don't know how long.

I quite liked the previous series. But this one! The 'new' team member is a distraction due to his over-acting with a script that sees him taking control at police crime scenes which wouldn't happen. It doesn't help that the female detective is a complete knob.

It can only get better if she's not in it from now on.

It's all gone a bit NCIS.

Same team members in different guise...........

Just think they've sold out to the what is now American format.

Thought this new series was very poor, wanted to find the camerman and/or director and punch him/her for their obviously deliberate shaky camera work. The actual plot was a bit thin too, there didn't seem to be the urgency with the policework - e.g.

the detective and her dodgy sidekick should have been hugely more proactive in checking the vehicles of ANYONE involved in the case for damage after Deanna was run over.

The way the new forensics bloke's sidekick was introduced into the show was poor too. I suppose she is going to be in it for this series run and her character will build, but they could/should have done more of an introduction.

Still, it's just a drama series, suppose it doesn't need to reflect real life 100%!

I've just switched it off because I was so irritated by the feminist DCI.

'The only reason I got promoted was because I was brilliant, but when I was passed over it was obviously because I was a woman.'

'all men are useless bds etc etc'

The 'chase' through the grain silo was terrible. The policewoman is just bangs on the closed panel without bothering to retrace her steps and suddenly! the fire brigade have arrived.

Dear All,

I rather enjoyed it - somehow the totally straight presentation of a madder than mad Jack McMad plot made it watchable,

very bad first part last night. How fast did the fireman get there despite it being in the middle of nowhere and up a corn field? Surely the fireman would have bumped into the guy escaping. When I think of the tension of some silent witness's in the past, such as the school shooting episode. Maybe Harry took the decent screen writers with him, at least we now know why he left- obviouisly read the scripts before signing the new contract.

I sat down to watch this tonight, having missed part 1 and after 5 minutes decided I was done with Silent Witness.

It survived the loss of Amanda Burton (a bit of a crush of mine in brookside days) and some hokey plots, but this new bloke is bloody annoying and I can't suspend belief anymore whilst watching it, so I'm out!

Too many plot holes, bad 'chance happenings'. Pathetic. Done with it now. And as for the coloured chap who had previous for beating up previous girlfriend, well..

Had me shouting at the TV at the incompetent DI. I don't like shouting at the TV. No series link for me.
