I've had a wagon jack knife on black ice and come sliding across all 3 lanes straight at me, my little fat hairy legs had me cover 100m up an embankment in a time that would have put Linford Christie to shame!!! laugh

It was touch and go on the M6 on Friday, an 8 hour shift lasted nearly 12 hours. I put in the busiest shift in all my time doing the job. The snow blown across the carriageway by gale force winds caused havoc! From clear skies to this in seconds caught a lot of drivers out.

Heck, seen some stuff but most of what is in this show I do not see. At least they have refrained from the US show type music and let the story pan out.

Catching it now though its now called Extreme Winter Road Rescue.
Genuine hats off to these guys. Amazed at how resilient some of the artics are when pulled back up.

We were the same last Thursday, we invoked a thing called Op Traction where we had heavy wreckers/flatbeds on full standby, ready to respond immediately to vehicles stuck in snow/RTCs. Those lads worked their socks off, we also pitched in and moved vehicles that we could to keep the carriageway moving. If it stopped, the snow built up quickly!

It wasn't, I was on duty again! Multiple RTCs dozens of slide outs, luckily a lot didn't hit anything and were able to continue with their journey.

Caught up with it last night, they mention next episode has the beast from the east though I got the impression this was filmed last year?

Either way, dangerous and lethal work.

Just broke out in a cold sweat. Just watching it before heading in on night duty.

So many forums this could go in

The worst over egging narration i have heard in many a year every time a chap is in snow in Scotland he is in danger of going off the edge of a mountain

The Recovery lorry drivers who are 'always' racing to the scene of the accident

The police who give the recovery boys time limits to get the vehicles away...

Whenever a car is parked on the hard shoulder everyone within a hundred yards is in danger of being flattened ( Two instance tonight,, a van parked in a dangerous position on the hard shoulder!!!. It was a real wide one and the car was a good 6-8ft from the inside lane.. Another parked on the motorway itself no hard shoulder. itself Technically yes but he was on the off-slip road and about 3ft from the end of motorway sign and there were traffic lights

The narrator who really overdoes the script and or the script writers either of which i could happily put in the face slapping forum,

The prog in itself is worth watching but with the sound off
