Has anyone watched any of this? It's a new political drama series thats exclusive to Netflix starring Kevin Spacey. Watched the first few episodes and it's excellent so far. Defiantly worth checking out if you have a Netflix sub.

How close is it to the original show, the same plot and people or totally different?

Never seen the original so i don't know. It's US government though so im guessing it's just the general premise that's the same.

You might think that; I couldn't possibly comment.

Watched the first three episodes last night , very good adaptation and I reckon Kevin Spacey is channelling his mate Bill Clinton for his role. Some hefty changes needed to make it work in the US political context but the base premise is the same.

The original series are possibly some of my favourite ever. The 3rd (the Final Cut) took it all a bit too far.

Will wait and see if the US adaptation is up to the mark, anyone know if it's showing on 'peasant' TV soon?

I just bought the original House of Cards trilogy from Amazon (and Boys from the Blackstuff...) - still as good now as it was back in the early '90's - when the BBC was worthy of its licence fee...

Boys from the Blackstuff is superb! Funny, sad, and bordering on violent at times. Great TV.

The original was a top quality although as previously mentioned the Final Cut took it all a bit far. I recently downloaded all three and thoroughly enjoyed watching them again. The books they were based on are a good read too.

I've heard about this haven't watched any yet, is it the same basic story as the "I coudn't possibly comment" BBC series?

Have watched the first 5 episodes of the series so far and loving it.

Kevin Spacey is just epic and all the supporting characters seem are great as well. Even the smallest side part seems well developed.

Glad to see it was planned as at least 2 series from the beginning so should have a cohesive story for some time.

Onto Ep 6 smile

Some of the dialogue is pretty corny, but I find that pretty forgivable as it's so well shot.

I'm just starting on the first Netfix episode tonight. I enjoyed the nineties series and felt it almost defined the age, much like Edge of Darkness did in the eighties. Fingers crossed it's good.

Change of plan: I've just started on the original BBC series which is excellent, so I'll finish that first then go onto the Spacey version. I'd forgotten how brilliantly oily and immoral Richardson is as the Chief Whip.
