Exactly. If you remember the episode where Frank got together with his old school mates you saw some genuine humanity and warmth in Frank. Claire is basically a cyborg.

Just binged all 4 series over the last few weeks. Great show. Hopefully I've timed it well enough for season 5 to just be around the corner.

Really enjoyed Season 4. A return to the wit and dark comedy of 1&2 and Frank breaking the 3rd wall again was a nice touch.

Possibly one of the best TV programmes ever made!

3rd wall? We can see that one...along with wall 1 and 2, floor and ceiling.

One more season and then that's it.

They know that there will be multiple allegations against Spacey. They know because like Harvey wkstain they knew all along and did nothing about it.

I thought Spacey was a great actor. I say was because his career is effectively over.

He didn't come out and deny he attempted to rape a child. Instead he tried to blame it on alcohol and the fact he now drives on the other side of the road.

I don't think it had much more than one season left.

I'm not so sure about Netflix's 'principles' here. They'll still be finishing and showing season 6 from what I can read. It's a bit easier to cancel something you've not spent money on (future theoretical seasons).

As above, as brilliant and significant as it was, it outlived it's welcome anyway imho.
Might be a good time to call it quits.

Sad to see these allegations, the actor that made them is in Star Trek Discovery, he's pretty good in there but I don't remember seeing him in anything else.

It wasn't. Spacey made advances and was rebuffed. End of story. It was 1986, and young boys were at a Hollywood party that involved copious amounts of drugs and booze. I have no idea why those boys were there, perhaps it was to serve the drinks?

As to House of Cards - it had its moments but I felt it never really fulfilled its promise. A good drama though but as others have said by the time we've watched the next series it's probably run its course anyway. I like the way Netflix is portraying itself as taking some kind of moral stance while still showing the next series. Talk about an empty gesture, but indicative of the industry's true concerns.

But they're not are they? They've made the statement that the decision had already been taken months ago - before the allegations were made. People are assuming it's related, and it may or may not be true - but suggesting that they are taking an empty moral stance when they've explicitly stated it's unrelated seems a bit harsh.

Ah OK. Is it pure coincidence they've released a statement now then? If it isn't then it's an empty gesture to go on and broadcast the next series. Are you saying the statement issued by Netflix has nothing to do with the K.Spacey 30 yr old non-incident currently being discussed?

I'm saying that it would be an empty statement of they'd said it was related but continued filming of the next series.
Saying it's unrelated may or may not be true, and the timing is curious - but since they have said it's unrelated I wouldn't accuse them off empty statements / gestures myself.

Although first mooted a year ago, the decision wasn't finally made to end at a sixth season 'til yesterday, when all those involved in production were told. That's not unrelated surely. Call me an old cynic... .

The statement..

“Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey. In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported."

...Also ranks as being pretty empty.

Surely if the child is under the age of consent it is classed as attempted rape. He wasn't going to read him a bedtime story was he.

That was my first thought when I heard the news, House of Cards was at it's best when he was trying to get into the White House, the next series would feel like an epilogue anyway.
