Luke Evans is also on the Disney side of things now as well, having been in Beauty and the Beast a couple of years ago, he was in The Hobbit movies

Plus I think he's too old now as well, he's already 40. I know we've had older Bonds in their first role, but I don't expect we'll be seeing that again

A new Bond is going to have to be around 34-35 now, ready to be about 38 come the next film. Though if there's speculation on Jack Lowden (currently aged 29) then we could be seeing a change in direction.
Ahh balls I forgot he was in the new Beauty and the Beast. Mind you Daniel Craig was in Tomb Raider... Not sure how relevant the age argument is anymore to be honest, not many actors tend to look as old as they actually are so it shouldn't a massive issue really.

Well yes but he kept fluffing his lines in rehearsal by saying "No I intend to kill you MR Boris".

they are currently making a film with Craig and his wardrobe of norman wisdom suits. Why would they announce a new bond before this film is out?
Because it's out there already...I think from the Bond team themselves, and because the BOnd franchise has rebooted, so there is now chat as to how the next change will happen. Post MCU, it's possible we'll see an in-story handover.

INdeed. Age isn't really an issue, even not including new software (SLJ in CM), a lot of modern actors look young, although Fassbender has always looked older than he is. Also Bond used to crimp out a film every other year, sometimes on consecutive years. It's only recently that huge gaps occurred. A 40 year old Bond could get out 5 films before he looks too decrepit. Look at Ethan HUnt.

I’m surprised they haven’t done a Bond Origins or something like that to squeeze every drop out of it like’s been done with X Men and Sherlock Holmes, etc.
He was a Commander in the Royal Navy. Must have got into a few scrapes to come to the attention of Military Intelligence?

I suppose this compromises any future Bonds a bit. But then we are quite happy to accept an un-ageing, shape-shifting Bond.

In that way the character of Bond is like Dr. Who.
That would be epic - but only if done in an Ipcress File way. Really grimy and cold war with no gadgets.

I never thought I'd say this, but Craig has been (for me at least) the best Bond. He's just nailed it.

He has been good, but let down by the scriptwriters - from the "it's not exactly christmas" of Skyfall back to gadgets in Spectre. It felt disjointed and clunky.

They have gone back to the 1930s in the Young Bond books by Charlie "Fast Show" Higson - https://www.youngbond.com/books/

I'd seriously consider Philip Winchester (who played Stonebridge in Strike Back).
I pooh poohed this idea because he is a yank. But, I started watching Strike Back S2 again. I think he is perfect. Hes not Pierce Brosnan handsome, but also not DC ugly. Physically hes very athletic looking. Acting is good, accent is spot on. Can do sarcastic humour well but also has a dark and moody side.

I think he probably has about as much chance of being given it as I do, but he really would be good IMHO.

Well done you.
