I found it very poor to be honest. As a Scot, I have watched most of the Gary Tank Commander episodes. This just seems like a poor copy with English rather than Scottish accents. I switched off halfway through.
And neither come close to Black Watch.

Just watched the first couple of episodes of Gary Tank commander based on comments on this thread. It's ok but only had me laughing a couple of times per episode. Other than Bluestones Colonel being a bit similar to Gary's Captain I would say they're that similar.

Yep, I've seen a bit of Gary Tank and I wouldn't say this is ripping it off, they're different. Based on the same idea of people in the army, but not much else. I am liking this series so far though smile .

Love the series. I Lt Col is pure genius. Never fails to make me laugh when he just 'appears' from no where and knowns everything.

May be on dodgy ground here by Bird is actually quite fit. Get her out of those man clothes and she scrubs up very very well. Have a google if you dont believe.

Remember the scene in Green Wing where she was weighing her boobs to figure out how much they'd cost to post smile

Have to say i really quite enjoyed this series, refreshingly honest and really quite well scripted and cast ;-) Another "thumbs up" for BBC3!

Have to admit I thought it'd be cringingly bad and the first episode was a bit hit and miss but it's proved to be a pretty decent series. Certainly looking forward to series 2 now.

Somehow comes across a bit 'generic hip BBC3 comedy' to me, but still pretty good smile

Thanks for the heads up, which also reminded me I hadn't got round to watching the Christmas special, an oversight I've just corrected. Funny as ever.

Good to see the Lt Col's still on form biggrin

What happened to Tower Block's predecessor? I can't remember if something happened to him at the end of the first series. Or did Death in Paradise just prove more popular?
