Just finished. Enjoyed it, everything ties up nicely.
Possible spoilers ahead, but nothing major.
One criticism - they should have spent more of the series in Wessex. Alfred is an interesting character and earlier seasons showed his development in more detail. Would have liked to have seen more of The Great.
Though I appreciate the series is about the Vikings of course and I'm a bit of a British history fan so obviously Alfred the Great would be interesting to me.
Ubbe's arc was good, and again it would have been nice to spend more than a couple of episodes at their final destination. The ending scene was good - nice and peaceful, which fitted the story perfectly.

Decent enough ending as others have said ties things up nicely.
Been pretty impressive how this series has grown in scale over the years. I think it was only on history channel in the beginning?
Looks like offshoot vikings Valhalla is well underway but set 100 years after vikings and will apparently be on Netflix this year.

Yeh they have been doing filming for it for a while now, had a few casting calls in Dublin.
Only character I can't work out how they are going to bring him back into it is Erik The Red, Leif's dad, because hes in Vikings and is killed, he would also be something like 140 years old even if he wasn't dead.

I managed about 3/4 of the first episode then binned it. Bloody awful.
And i LOVED the original series.
That’s a shame.And i LOVED the original series.
I’m starting it mid week probably. As I said, seems pretty polarising in the reviews.
Might try 1 episode before downloading the series to watch when I’m away.

Difficult to forget Ragnar!
Travis Fimmel killed that role.
Went downhill from there for me.
Yeah was at its best with Ragnar and rolo going around throwing axes and causing mayhem. Travis Fimmel killed that role.
Went downhill from there for me.

First few series had a smaller budget, better scripts, and better acting.
The very first season was really low budget, I think it was on the history channel or something, when I first saw it. There’s some fight scenes on the beach which have about three Vikings having a punch up.
Amazing how big it became as it got picked up by the streaming services like Amazon etc.

Yes the History channel I think. Took getting into at first but then I was hooked. By comparison the last three (?) seasons seemed as if they were directed and produced by the people responsible for Fast and Furious.
