"Television presenter and journalist Victoria Coren Mitchell went all in to scoop nearly £400,000 and make poker history.
Coren Mitchell became the first ever two-time winner of the European Poker Tour (EPT) by winning the latest season of the tournament in Sanremo, Italy.
She beat off 556 competitors to win a cash prize of £391,000 (476,100 euros) and a watch worth more than £4,000.
The BBC4 Only Connect presenter knocked out fellow competitor Jordan Westmorland and was left at the table with Italian Giacomo Fundaro. Coren Mitchell produced a hand to make poker history at the 98th EPT main event.
Following her win, the 41-year-old tweeted to her 230,000 followers: "I WON! I bloody WON!!!!!! Sorry for that language on Easter Sunday. But I WON!!!!!! That is at least partly thanks to the amazing support, God bless everyone xxxxxxx."
Earlier, she had written on the social media site: " Heads up!! I knocked out lovely Jordan Westmorland, now it's just me and Giacomo Fundaro for the title HOW IS THIS HAPPENING??."
Coren Mitchell became the first woman to win an EPT event in London in 2006 for £500,000 prize money."

I was following her progress thru the tournament on her Twitter feed. It was very exciting. She was short stacked from about the last 8 in so to go on and win it from there is an amazing achievement. To win the EPT twice must make her one of the top players on the planet.

The whole nepotism thing grinds a wee bit for me, but yes she has that certain something (mainly that I think she'd be filthy).

But I'd rather Kirsty Young or Gillian Tett or Isabel Hardman (thinking man's crumpet).

Nepotism? I would be delighted if having a leg up from a famous dad meant journalists and presenters were more like her instead of the usual 'talent' we have to put up with in the media.

And she's also a world class poker player too, which makes her much more intriguing and interesting than say than some empty vessel whose ambitions and talents stretch no further than presenting the one show, being married to a footballer, and being paid to appear in celebrity photoshoots of their house in OK magazine.
