Anyone else picked up on this yet? (did a search but found no mention of it)

From wikipedia

Hannibal is an upcoming American thriller television series developed by Bryan Fuller for NBC. The series is based on the series of novels by Thomas Harris and will focus on the budding relationship between FBI criminal profiler Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a forensic psychiatrist destined to become Graham's most cunning enemy. The series will premiere on NBC on Thursday April 4, 2013

Hugh Dancy as Special Agent Will Graham, a criminal profiler and hunter of serial killers.
Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, famed forensic psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer.
Laurence Fishburne as Special Agent Jack Crawford, head of Behavioral Sciences at the FBI and Graham's boss

Hannibal - First Look

Definitely piqued my interest, looks to have a solid cast and could be the perfect remedy for the continued disappointment that is 'The Following'.

Anyone else going to give it a go?

Looks interesting. Another series has just started about the 'yoof' of Norman Bates of 'Psycho' fame. Fully intend to see how that pans out.

I'll have to look into that. thumbup

I'm a bit of a sucker for a good serial killer story, which is why The Following has been rather a let down IMHO. Started with plenty of promise but seems to lack direction.

I'm surprised Hannibal hasn't been more heavily publicised, especially with it being connected to an already very successfull canon of work.

It's called 'Bates Motel', by the way.

Cheers H, much appreciated.

Edit - Blimey, it's Charlie Bucket. Oh well, never did like the remake anyway.

That looks brilliant.

Always a fan of the books and Mads Mikkelsen looks as though he will make an excellent Hannibal

Well, the first episode has been 'available' for a few days... Anyone made a judgement?

That was changed from the original idea of the story of his youth: "Master Bates"

Watched about half of the first ep, looks very well filmed, just couldn't get on with the casting. HL to me should be highly educated and well spoken, however I could barely understand Mads Mikkelsen so kinda lost interest. Might give it another go.

Enjoyed that.

Thought the casting, atmosphere and cinematography were excellent. The plot itself seemed a little rushed, but that can often happen at the start of a new series as they try and squeeze in as much information as possible to get things moving.

I think Mads Mikkelsen has the makings of an excellent Lecter. Bags of charisma and a genuinely creepy feel to him.

Next episode looks interesting, looking forward to it.

This...

Really enjoyed it. It actually had the same sense of dread throughout that you were used to in the films. It is weird having Hannibal not be Hopkins, and talk with an accent, but he is certainly a creepy portrayal.

Very much looking forward to the season as a whole.

Glad I've got someone to discuss it with smile

Quite surprised at the lack of interest TBH. I would have thought with Lecter being such a popular character more people would have sought it out?

yes

Well worth a look imho. Suffers a little from the usual first episode problem of trying a bit too hard but definitely shows promise.

I am waiting until it's on Sky Living but I can't find a release date yet, just a general "Coming Soon" frown

Glad to hear it shows promise, reviews on the net seem to indicate it's going to be worth watching!

Still can't get on with the casting, every time I see Lecter I can't stop thinking of this hehe
