The point is that the character is male.
Not sure why, but...

The Master has already been diminished by arbitrarily becoming female
That's a REALLY bizarre statement - Can you explain it?

Yes, But another great choice if at all possible. He's been a Doctor already, he could definitely be THE Doctor...

Stephen Fry isn't very busy at the moment, is he?

(I was thinking of the person I'd least like to see as The Doctor).

Was watching Peter Capaldis early episodes at the weekend.
It really was dire self indulgent cobblers. I think it got better to some degree as that series went on. I only really thought it became good when he went to help Clara save Danny Pink from death (he didn't, he couldn't)
But it took him most of the series to get there. By contrast I thought Matt Smith nailed it by is 3rd episode.

There was an extended trailer for the new series, starting Easter weekend(?), on BBC1 before Breakfast this morning. I think if you´re over 14 it might prove a little irritating...

I think they're filmed out of sequence smile

No st ? I haven't checked his hair length but I did note how short it was in that riveting starter
But then there is the overall story arc and for want of a better word the sequencing of the episodes isn't there ? It was just my opinion but the big contrasts between how Matt Smiths character and how he became "good" and Peter Capaldis was striking. In the very first episode I had forgotten how we get a lecture from the writers about accepting change and people.

I see its gone quiet on the person to take over but being an ageist type I do hope its someone younger.

Personally, I think Capaldi has been badly let down by the people running the show. Moffat has been patchy at best with his stewardship of the series, and the writing has been noticeably poorer. I've enjoyed all of the new Doctors, but each of them has only been as good as the scripts they were given and it's still clear that the BBC regards science fiction (as much as it is) as a slightly embarrassing thing that the kids seem to enjoy.

Please please please bring back a great episode like Blink. Fantastic episode and I think even stands up as a single programme. Yes I know The Doctor is not in it that much but it's truly a great one.

Matt Smith was dreadful. Really dreadful but I will say that over time I actually grew to like his version and lets be honest he had a hell of an act to follow.

Peter's has been so bad. I hoped it would improve but no. Still bad. I don't blame him I blame the weak writing the lack of strong stories and too much arty farty stuff and all this nodding to previous stuff and these gaping story arcs really must stop as they are getting dull to the extreme.

Bad Wolf was great but let's leave it at that and move on to something else.

Giving me yet another chance to wax lyrical about the exquisite Sally Sparrow ... not wise.

Why do they keep saying she is the first openly gay companion? Surely that was Captain Jack Harkness?
