I think it's suffering from an identity crisis, children's adventure or adult drama.

None of the 3 episodes have hit the spot yet.
This.

It's such a different Doctor I can't imagine it's getting te younger audience it used to.
My oldest is 12 and seems to be loving it. My cousins kids (early teens) are also loving it. My youngest (6 years) says that Strax is very funny.

So far I'm loving the show. Reckon Capaldi is leagues ahead of Matt Smith. And I always thought it tried to straddle a line between childrens adventure and adult drama. They did the Sarah Jane show specifically for kids and Torchwood was squarely aimed at adults.

I enjoyed Saturday's episode. It was entertaining and funny. I thought Ben Miller made a great Sheriff of Nottingham.

Not hit 'the' spot some say, but WHICH spot if you're not sure if it's trying to be Children's Adventure or Adult Drama?

Personally, I've enjoyed the last two episodes more than any other since Ecclestone left the role. I think Capaldi's bloody brilliant as the Doctor!

Ok, Robin Hood episode wasn't as good as the previous one, but that was stellar, imho.

After at least 4 years in doldrums, Dr Who is BACK!!!!!!!

Movie plots alluded to - Legend and Terminator 2, Monty Python & The Holy Grail (the minstrel). The actor who played Robin Hood, played the part well IMHO.

Best episode so far.
There was a hint of the Tom Baker series State of Decay with the spaceship disguised as the castle.

Was I the only one who thought The Master (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Ainley) when the Sheriff appeared.

I enjoyed the first two seasons of Torchwood, not sure what to make of that now ... But I completely agree that Capaldi is brilliant as the Doctor.

In jest, but to me it seemed that the only nod to 'adults' was a few swear words and almost non-stop homosexual risqué references. It was like watching a weird love child of Graham Norton's chat show and Sarah Jane Adventures (Without the acting skill of the latter!).

I thought it was dross (I watched the first couple of episodes and a few later ones).

The one off last series (serial) was better, although it seemed to drag on for weeks longer than it needed to.

Was that the one where the "blessing" turned out to be a huge vagina at the centre of the earth? wobble
That's the one.. I was always surprised that the Doctor had never noticed it after all his years of gallivanting around our planet.

Enjoyable enough, but seemed a touch too silly and knock-about for Capaldi's Doctor. Ben Miller was good value as the Sheriff.

I watched the first episode of this series.... well, I say watched, my attention drifted after 20 minutes and I didn't bother watching the end.
Missed ep. 2
Watched ep. 3 and the same thing happened, attention drifted and couldn't be bothered to re-watch.

Have to say it's not Capaldi, it's everything else.
Dr. Who could be going the way of Man Utd for me, they bring in a Scottish fella and he takes the flack for all the other things that have gone wrong.
Hopefully it doesn't result in a very short stint for Capaldi.

The shark it jumped,, oh for goodness sake.

I think the whole Doctor who thing has jumped the shark. I'm a big fan but I think it peeked maybe a couple of series ago. If it hasn't jumped the shark yet I feel it may only be a matter of time..

Dr Who peeking
I often think of the Army of Ghosts/ Doomsaday end of series 2 episodes as the highspot of the whole series.

No, Blink was a brilliantly written episode and is where the bar is set IMO.

Have tried giving it a couple of Episodes to settle in, just caught up on the third episode though on inlayer, holy titty christ, to say it was God awful would be a huge understatement, a 10 year would have considered it a bit immature. Cappaldi also seems to be really struggling, he just comes across as very uncomfortable and split in the role he is supposed to be adopting and is completely overshadowed by his assistant. We have went from a doctor that was so cowed from violence that he needed therapy every time he stood on an Ant to one that looks on the verge of a complete psychotic breakdown whenever his name is mentioned. There have points when it looked like he was on the cusp of violently raping his assistant.

They really need to up the game here, immature story lines and Doctor that appears to be completely lost as to the character he is supposed to portray is not a promising combination

I agree, yet perversly written by the man now seemingly ruining it, Stephen Moffat
