I liked the "sometimes you have no good choices, but you still have to choose" line.

I might get that put on a t shirt for the next general election.

Interesting to read in the AMA that this one was written specifically with a reduced part for Clara because of availability (or contracted hours or somesuch). All I can say is that it proved my point, we need to see more Doctor Who, and less of the companion! It seemed to flow better than other episodes, possibly because we actually got to see the story from the Doctor's point of view more, which is normally limited to 3 or 4 scenes of exposition monologue (with optional gurning).

Now, don't get me wrong, I thought Clara looked positively delicious in the 1920s gear...

Also, Frank Skinner. Interesting character, but don't give up the day job Frank, okay?

The point of this episode was made in the scene on the beach. The Doctor has "impossible choices" and he HAS to make them. No ifs, buts or negotiations. That leaves lives in Jeopardy. This Doctor is darker because of those choices and those "choices" are starker. His pathos has been replaced by the need to find the solution. But it hasn't gone and Clara reminds him of that.

Nope, I raved about Listen, Time Heist and Caretaker they were great. This was ruined by Frank Skinner smirking all the way through (what was his character about, anyway? A train engineer that was brighter than all the best scientists in the galaxy?), and yet again we have a monster defeated by a single word - surrender! Brilliant. Even the Agatha Christie angle was spoiled by the Dr's impossible deductions. I loved the theme, and the stylish jazz, but it was *boring* (apart from the final confrontation).
He was an above average engineer we should presume, as he was chosen to be there. Maybe suggesting that a skilled man is better than a blue sky thinking clerk.

Ash, I think you need to watch it again, all those left in the room when it turned I to a lab were experts in their fields, hand picked to be there - the engineer included.
although I think he was Gus & the Doctor worked it out whilst he was poking around the Tardis & that's why he offerd him the role

Nah,Gus was a total tt,killing off people for no reason. I think Skinner was someone who knew a LOT more about things than his relatively lowly position implied, and the Doctor was intrigued, hence the offer. Shame he said no,better than Mr Pink!

Sorry, I can never hear that song without thinking about Shawn Of The Dead!

Well, I thought this week's epidose wasn't bad.

On the other hand, after last week's car crash, even Battlefield Earth begins to look good.

Kill the moon was bad, but it definitely wasn't Battlefield Earth bad. The only thing as bad as Battlefield Earth is a copy of Battlefield Earth (or anything else based on scientology).

Caught up. That was really good.
Liked the song, liked the script and the outside references. The plot worked well.

I thought Frank might be Gus as well.

Well that was a disappointing episode, apart from the final few seconds.

Moxey? You can't kill Moxey, he's got the supreme being to revive later.
