The writing has been inexcusably lazy throughout this series. It's only the delectable Clara that kept me watching to the end.

As fantastic as Michelle Gomez was as Missy, the fact that the writers have shown that a male Timelord can regenerate as a female does set a worrying precedent for future Doctors.

Next Doctor = Miranda Hart or some other load of old ste frown

Regeneration was never mentioned - and the Master has stolen bodies before.

Prior to being missy she picked up the masters ring from the cremation. Then becoming missy. So the transfer was through the ring.

Have you missed the entire episode of "The End of Time"?

I am ptty sure that he was talking about the child returning at the end in his original human form, which made absolutely no sense at all given what had previously been discussd in the same episode.
I've been scratching my head trying to come up with a plausible sci-fi answer. But I think I'll have to agree with the general view that it's s lazy writing.
The writing's been very hit and miss for the last couple of series. Even within the same episode. Apart from the trees in London and moon is an egg episodes, they were just toss from start to finish.
It's a shame because it could be so great. It's all there.

For the record I think Capaldi is one of the best Doc's so far; however, Cybermen again?

Am I the only one that's sick of the same villains?

Please scripty's invent some new ones or at least use some others (i.e. Angels etc).
Watched "Tomb of the Cybermen" last night, it was really good.

Caught up on the finale yesterday morning and thought it was pretty good on the whole, not perfect but rather enjoyable:

Pros:
  • Michelle Gomez was fantastically barmy as the "Mistress", hope to see her again!
  • Clara's charade of being the Doctor was great and Jenna Coleman really sold it, she was very much channelling the Eleventh Doctor IMHO! Changing the title sequence was a nice touch as well thumbup
  • Chris Addison was superb, kept a nice thread of humour through some otherwise pretty dark story bits
  • Moffat proves he can break his standard "Everybody lives" mould, even with a real gimme of a Deus ex Machina to bring back pretty much anyone who has died lately he resisted. bravo!
  • The Doctor and Clara telling each other lies to make the other one feel better was superbly done and acted very well

Cons:
  • Danny's sacrifice and ability to resist Cyber-control was really well written but the preceding episodes really hadn't done enough to make me invest in him so it wasn't as impactful as it could have been
  • Something I'm a bit mystified about.. before Danny is hit by the car Clara looked to be on the verge of something dramatic about to happen, the Post-Its, the "this is the last time I'm going to say these words to anyone" etc etc, yet all of that seemed forgotten about? It can't have been about Missy/The Cybermen as we only stumbled on to that as a result of the attempt to rescue Danny from the afterlife so erm... WTF?

Or on the other hand, the delicious Sally Sparrow.

+1

But she's probably a bit expensive by now. How about the Doctor's Daughter?

Clara' big announcement was that she loved him that was her dramatic thing
Simple as that
Simple as that. Whilst hearing it Danny was distracted and walked straight into a car and was killed
Simple as that
Clara's story is finished she is simply a companion who had a relatively sad exit.

It's not like she hadn't told him that before though, pretty sure she said it in The Forest of the Night and in Flatline, I suppose it could have been that she was about to fess up properly about everything she had been doing with the Dr whilst lying about it after having her thinking time that he told her to go and do at the end of Forest?

Simple test for me is I haven't bothered watching the finale again on iPlayer, so it was st.
Similar here; most previous episodes I've rewatched a few times. This one just doesn't deserve the time.

Very marmite episode, which does seem to have split opinion, but I just don't see how there can be any way of describing that finale is good. FFS, if my 13 year old son, supposedly right in the middle of the traditional Dr Who target audience says it was rubbish, the writers have truly failed.

Very enjoyable series. One or two duff episodes. The Trees springs to mind but I have liked Capaldi in the role of the Doctor. Would give the series 7/10.

Overall I enjoyed it, some episodes more than others. I think its a bit like Top Gear ie made for family viewing so some bits for kids and some for adults. Approve of the slightly darker themes and agree I'd like to see stories spread out over a few episodes but it seems mainstream Tv has to have everything wrapped up in an hour nowadays

I think PC is a decent actor, but nothing about this series is engaging, the kids are baulking at the random logic too.

Too many Earth based episodes, extremely dull school teacher character, master and cybermen come out when writers are desperate. Everyone wants it to be good, but it falls on its face/jumps shark week after week.

Just remake some of the old episodes with the latest visual effects and PC, or put it to rest.
