That's got to be one of the best opening episodes to a series in a very long time.
However, knowing it's the first episode in a series does feel like it removes any real sense of jeopardy from the story...Doctor Who Series 9, Episode 1, The Magician’s Apprentice: 'the jury's out' - The Telegraph

Really enjoyed that. More than any episode in the whole of last season except perhaps the one with the two dimensional bad guys. I really really hope Capaldi shoots Davros in the face, but I know it won't happen. The whole "BBC" ness/family thing really does make the show difficult to care about the outcome of plots sometime.
I quite like how old this Dr is, but if they do get rid of Clara I think they'll have to squeeze someone young in there or I can see it leaving its audience behind.

Still don't like Capaldi personally, viewing figures are dropping too.
I wonder if that's down to Capaldi or down to everything having been done to death? Last season was pretty forgettable on the whole except episodes like Kill the Moon and Trees Save the Earth from Solar Annihilation which I wish I could forget.Zad said:
I'm not so sure. Recent series seem to have been dominated by the companion and River Song. I think Matt Smith's lack of acting ability meant that had to happen really. Now they have a decent actor in the main role, they don't seem to know what to do with him.
I just the Dr stories have been done to death, I'd like to see a new angle.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
